RouteXpert Review
Day 3 of 1 week of motorcycling in the Black Forest, our base this week is hotel Falke in Baiersbronn, which is located in the north of the Black Forest. It is again chilly in the morning, 5 degrees, but after a very good breakfast, we leave around 10:00. Fortunately it is dry and the sun is shining.Today's route again goes through the north of the Black Forest. After half an hour we stop for a while because Cor receives a message that his rear tire has lost some air, we immediately take advantage of the situation to have a cup of coffee with some goodies at Sigi's Backstube. After Cor has inflated his tire, we continue driving through the beautiful surroundings on mainly beautiful and good roads. We drive on to Bad Peterstal-Griesbach, where we have lunch in the Renchtalhütte. From the terrace of the Renchtalhütte you have a beautiful view of the dat. After lunch we make a tour around the mountain pass "Schäfersfeld", before we drive towards the Allerheiligen Monastery ruin. You have 2 choices to visit the All Saints' Day complex, via the Waterfall or via the ruin, we stop at the ruin. After this visit we drive on and pass the Mummelsee *, where you have a beautiful viewpoint.
* The Mummelsee is a lake in the Black Forest, in the municipality of Seebach. It is located in a boiler valley at 1,036 meters above NN, has an area of 3.7 hectares, a perimeter of 800 meters and a maximum depth of 17 meters. The nearest town is Achern. (Source: Wikipedia).
Also in this route you will once again take the B500, the Schwarzwaldhochstraße ***.
*** The Schwarzwaldhochstraße is an impressive, wide road that cuts through the Black Forest. Another well-known name for this route is also B500. The winding route goes through the nature park and runs from Baden-Baden to Freudenstadt, at altitudes from 800 meters to one kilometer. The road offers visitors an enchanting view of the Rhine Valley and the Vosges, among other places. Not to be forgotten is that the beautiful nature certainly invites you to walk, take pictures and enjoy the sights along this route.
We drive further north towards Baden-Baden and stop again along the L79 in Forbach where you have a nice view over the Murgtal. After this short stop we meander further towards Baiersbronn, where we refuel before we get back to the hotel, where the neighbors, "Schaukelpferd" are going to eat because the hotel has ruhetag today.
Because we drove this route ourselves, we rate it with 5 stars.
