RouteXpert Review
This route from the Motorbike Guide France part 1 is a tour in the Drôme region and the Rhone Valley. Bert Loorbach, the writer, is an enthusiastic motorcyclist himself and lived in France for a year and a half. During that time he devoted himself to mapping the unknown and beautiful roads of France especially for motorcyclists.
Hotels, campsites, places of interest, parking spaces and restaurants are listed as POIs.
Start and finish in Aouste-Sur-Sye, this is a relaxed tour through rolling hills, forests, fruit trees, interspersed with beautiful villages. No spectacular things, just fine motorways in the Drôme. On the way there is not much opportunity to eat or drink something, so it is advisable to take this with you and to have a picnic somewhere along the way.
In the beginning the road climbs slowly into a landscape of meadows and fruit trees, at the Pas de Lauzens the rocks come into view and along the route you see a small waterfall. Here the road also becomes slightly winding. At RP3 you can see the ruins of Château de Soyans on top of the hill. Via Puy-Saint-Martin and Roynac we drive to the Col de Devès and Col de Tartaiguille, where you can enjoy beautiful panoramas.
The ride continues via a beautiful winding road through forests, mountains and valleys via the village of Marsanne to the Mirmande, where we stop for a moment to walk through this artistic village.
Via a narrow but quiet road we continue towards Upie, after Allex at RP12 the Here and TomTom routes are not the same.
For bird lovers it is worthwhile to visit the beautiful bird park Le Jardin aux Oiseaux at RP14.
Via Barcelonne we drive over the Col Jérôme Cavalli in the direction of Gigors, another beautiful road that goes up along the flanks of Vercors, with beautiful panoramas. After Gigors we descend to the final destination Aouste-Sur-Sye.
This route is a nice short tour for half a day in a nice area with reasonable roads. Wienig sights and restaurants along the route. I rate this with 3 stars.
RP3 Ruins of Château de Soyans
RP17 Pas de Boussiere
