Route Summary
The Splodertocht, this was a tour that was previously held annually. The tour was made, organized and driven by motorcyclists from Espelo, Holten and Nieuw-Heeten, where often a dear wife was also present as a duo passenger. This tour can be driven in one day and you also have time to view something along the route. Every year they tried to find a few people who wanted to organize this tour. This tour has been put together by Thijs Pijnappel and Hans Lamers.
The meeting point and the start of the route is at Café Vosman in Nieuw-Heeten.

RouteXpert Review
This route with the start and end point in Nieuw-Heeten in Overijssel goes through Salland, Twente and a small piece of Germany. After coffee we can start a nice route. You will soon pass the National Park Sallandse Heuvelrug * and before we reach Hellendoorn, we will drive through the park and pass the Adventure Park. This is an amusement park at Hellendoorn in Overijssel. The park was founded in 1936 by Jan van den Berg. He started with a tea house and some play equipment. In the following years it has grown into a large Adventure Park: (Source Wikipedia) * The Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park covers a large part of the ridge between Hellendoorn, Haarle and Holten in Overijssel. The park is entirely south of the N35 Zwolle - Almelo, and includes the Haarlerberg, Holterberg, Noetselerberg and the Koningsbelten. The ridge is a striking part of the Overijssel landscape. It can be seen from afar from all sides. Conversely, many views are possible from the moors. The forests are also vast for Dutch standards. We continue our way towards Vriezenveen where we go for a cup of coffee near Reutum. Then we drive towards Oldenzaal and the Lutte where we cross the border to take a small piece of Germany (near Bad Bentheim). Our lunch place is restaurant Gut Aarnink, just across the border at Losser. After lunch we continue on via Enschede and Haaksbergen in the direction of Lochem.
The route takes us further along Zwiep (Achterhoeks: Zwéép) known from the Witte Wieven. We stop here to stretch our legs and drink a cup of coffee.
Sage of the White Wieven:
A young man is rescued by white wives for a fall into a pit. In gratitude, he brings them a cake on a platter. Later he has to compete with another farmer's boy for the hand of a farmer's daughter. The young man is the only one who manages to throw a hair spit in the pit of the white wings. He is then chased by a white wief with a hair spit. The boy just escapes into the shed and the white bug throws the hair spit ** in the door. Once the boy and the farmer's daughter are married, he receives a golden saucer and hair spit from the white wings, so that they are no longer poor.
** A hair spit is a portable anvil for the hair of a scythe or sight, in combination with a hair hammer. The image shows a hair spit in the middle that is used by hitting it with the tip in a tree stump, in combination with a normal hammer. After the coffee stop at the Witte Wieven we head back to the end point in Nieuw-Heeten, where we end the ride with coffee.
Along the route you have various options to stop for a cup of coffee and / or something to eat or to take a picture. I have included the places where we stopped for a moment in the details.
I gave the route 4 stars, a nice route and a nice day out. The roads in Salland and Twente are generally great to drive.
