RouteXpert Review
Never boring and anything but flat ... those are the valleys and valleys of Eastern Norway. Something interesting happens throughout the year. You can practice not only cycling, skiing and other sports, but also the cultural festivals and other events for which the region is famous. Get on your motorcycle and experience it for yourself: many valleys and valleys in Eastern Norway are seemingly endless as you travel through them and you make spontaneous or planned stops at the numerous sights. The landscape is constantly changing. This way you ride between gently rolling hills, and from one moment to the next you are surrounded by spectacular rock formations. Savalen is located in the municipality of Tynset, this is a municipality in the Norwegian province of Innlandet. The main attraction in this route is the Jutulhogget Canyon. This is the largest gorge in Northern Europe, formed during the last ice age, around 10,000 years ago. You can experience the Jutulhogget Canyon on foot by descending the descending path, or you can enjoy the view to the edge. You should definitely stay a bit longer here to enjoy the view and to capture this in a few photos.
There are two stops included in the route, but of course you can also stop at one of the many picnic areas along the way to get something to eat and drink. After 1H30M you are in Rendalen, where you can stop at Osterdalen Hjemmebakeri for a sandwich and coffee. There is also a gas station and supermarket next to the bakery in this place. After +/- 217 KM, you enter Tynset, where you can stock up at the supermarket and refuel a little further, this is the last option before you reach the end point!
Also in this route you will always be close to water, whether it is a river or a lake.
In this 4 star route you mainly drive on good roads, a longer stop at the Jutulhogget canyon you should definitely do.
General information:
Norway is known for its amazing natural beauty. Fjords that tens of miles into the country, snow-covered high plains, sharp mountain peaks and vast forests. In this sparsely populated country, most people live in the cities, the capital of which is Oslo.
Some practical tips:
Tolls must be paid on a large number of roads in Norway. For many routes that is temporary: in Norway the costs for new roads, bridges and tunnels are paid by tolls. When the construction costs are settled, the toll on that specific route is lifted again. Bergen, Oslo, Trondheim, Kristiansand and some other cities also charge (city) tolls.
It is not necessary to take action when staying in Norway. Anyone approaching a toll road can simply drive on without stopping. With cameras above the road, the license plate of the vehicle is scanned, not the license plate of the trailer or caravan. It takes a long time for the photos to be processed.
The bill is then sent to the Euro Parking Collection (EPC) in London within four to six months. There is no extra charge for this service.
Mandatory on the motorcycle:
Safety vest - A motorcyclist must bring at least one safety vest. In the event of a breakdown or accident, the driver is obliged to wear a safety vest. The ANWB advises motorcyclists to also bring a safety vest for a possible passenger.
Advice:
First aid kit - Motorcyclists are advised to bring a first aid kit.
