RouteXpert Review
Johnson City Roundtrip The Southern Dozen Ride 13; Founders Ride and Brewly Noted Craft Beer TrailHead toward the stomping grounds of Daniel Boone, and continue past the Gray Fossil Site and Natural History Museum. Enjoy the scenery of the countryside as you head toward historic Jonesborough.
The Brewly Noted Beer Trail is uniquely positioned in both Tennessee and Virginia, giving craft beer lovers a trail that is both rich and delicious in both states. The Brewly Noted Beer Trail is the first multi-state beer trail in the US, showcasing an amazing array of craft breweries that are unique to the Appalachian region. The Brewly Noted Beer Trail App allows you to check into local breweries as well as local craft tap houses. To download the app you can visit the app store on your iPhone or Android device. Along the Brewly Noted Craft Beer Trail you can sample craft beer, but if you have to drive don’t drink and take your samples with you to enjoy in the evening when you’re back at the hotel.
The ride starts in Johnson City and ride to Bristol where you visit Bristol Station Brewery and Pub (RP3), Birthplace of Country Music Museum (RP4) and the Studio Brew Brewery and Taproom (RP6).
You continue the ride to Kingston via Oak Grove, in Kingston you’ll visit Gypsy Circus Cider Brewery (RP11), the Sleepy Owl Brewery (RP14) and have lunch at the Riverfront Seafood Restaurant (RP15).
We ride into Jonesborough, a beautiful little town where you can do a lot of sightseeing. You’ll visit the Depot Street Brewery (RP26), Chester Inn State Historic Site and Museum (RP29), International Storytelling Center (RP30) and the Lolli Pop Store (RP31).
On your way back to the hotel you still have some breweries to visit in Johnson City, JRH Brewery (RP36), Yee-Haw Brewery (RP38) and last but not least the Johnson City Brewing Company (RP39).
The Yee-Haw Brewery is located next to Founder’s Park (RP37) where you can enjoy live events. Link to the planned events is included in the review.
Back in Johnson City, you’ll visit the revitalized downtown, where you’ll find upscale eateries, Founders Park and the Farmers Market, Downtown Johnson City also offers music, art and shopping.
I rate this ride with 5 stars, because of the beautiful scenery, twisty roads and off course the visits to breweries.
