The roads in Malaysia are generally in good condition, but beware; there are also parts where the asphalt is poor and there can be potholes in the road surface. This can be dangerous, so caution is advised. During the rainy season (September-December) the roads can be slippery. Traffic in Malaysia drives on the left side of the road.
You can rent a motorcycle in Malaysia, they are usually lighter models and often scooters. You can spend the night in hotels, B & Bs or campsites, which can easily be booked via the website in the review or via booking.com.
I rate this route with 5 ***** stars because of the beautiful roads, the beautiful nature, with a wonderful day at the beach and an overnight stay in Kuala Terengganu.

Whisper Beach
Today we drive a shorter distance so that we can enjoy a longer beach day at “Whisper Beach”. We drive on beautiful narrow and winding roads through the beautiful Malaise landscape.
We leave from Machang and take the highway 4, the first stop is at Jeram Linang, this is one of the first recreation centers to open in Pasir Puteh. The recreation center is a rocky waterfall area and has a path to climb to the top of the waterfall. There are also bathing areas, places to camp, and there is a mini zoo offered by the Kelantan State Forest Office. Here you can enjoy the natural baths and beautiful waterfalls.
We continue our ride, stopping briefly at the local supermarket to buy a drink and snacks for the beach day. After about 45 minutes we are at “Whisper Beach” (Pantai Bisikan) a beautiful wide white sandy beach on the South China Sea. A lovely place for a day at the beach, so take your time and relax in the sun, take a dip in the sea and enjoy the tranquility.
After a well-deserved day at the beach, we drive south along the coastline, and then via a beautiful mountain road to the waterfall Lata Payung. This is a relatively unknown waterfall. Access is from the Kuala Kangsar-Grik road (76) which leads to a small kampung where you can park your car.
It is advisable to ask for directions here or to take a guide. It is not a long walk before you enter the jungle and reach the river. This river actually has three waterfalls, first you reach Bayas waterfall. From there you keep the river on your left and after a few hundred meters you reach Lata Payung.
The waterfall is quite high and impressive. The natural pool is not too big, but you can take a refreshing bath or shower. It is possible to climb to the top of the waterfall on the left side of the river. Beware, the rocks can be slippery. From the top you will be rewarded with a nice view of Lake Cenderoh. This is a nice place where you can enjoy the beautiful nature. You can also have a picnic here.
After visiting this beautiful waterfall, you have about 80 kilometers to drive to the end point Kuala Terengguna, a city on the coast with many hotels where you can stay overnight.
Kuala Terengganu is a quiet, relaxed city. There are no modern shopping centers, but mainly atmospheric day and night markets. Most of the population works in fishing.
In addition, the entire state lives on oil, along the coast you will also find several oil refineries. Outside the city you will find various authentic kampungs along extensive beaches, where you can spend the night at a resort if you do not want to spend the night in the city.
