RouteXpert Review
Along rippling rivers, over winding dikes and right through Dutch fortified towns — the Lek and Linge route is a wonderful day trip for those who love peace, views and history. You follow the contours of two iconic rivers, ride over centuries-old water lines and stop at charming villages and forts. The landscape changes constantly, but the quality of the asphalt and the motorcycling pleasure remain constant. This route is pure enjoyment for anyone who loves the charm of the river country. Start your engine and let the dikes be your guide.

Your day starts relaxed at Cafetaria Molenzicht in Arkel. A quick cup of coffee and you are ready to follow the river Linge, which soon appears on your right. You meander through the green heart of the Betuwe, with beautiful views over orchards, farms and ribbon villages. The asphalt is smooth, the bends flowing - this is motorcycling the Dutch way. Your first Tour Info Point is the river Linge, one of the most beautiful rivers in the Netherlands. Especially in spring, this area is a feast for the senses: blossom in the trees, the smell of fresh grass and small ferries that throw you back in time.
Not much later you will be face to face with the robust Fort bij Asperen, a unique tower fort from the time of the New Dutch Waterline. Now it is a cultural stronghold, but you can still feel the military history in every stone. You continue on the Diefdijk, where the landscape breaks open in green fields and views to the horizon.
Then you head towards the Lek, the second major river on your route. This is your next Tour Info Point and again one with character. You ride past floodplains, mills and locks. In Vianen you can just see the contours of the old town before you dive into the open landscape again. After a beautiful route along the Lek it is time for a break at Café Lekzicht in Ameide. The terrace is right on the river and is the ideal place for a cup of coffee or a hearty lunch. You can take off your helmet here and enjoy the water that slowly flows by. This is the real river feeling.
From here you dive into the Alblasserwaard. You meander through Langerak and Nieuwpoort, where the next Tour Info Point awaits you: Fortress Nieuwpoort. A fortified town in a star shape, complete with canals and bastions. This is a place where you can easily get off to walk around the ramparts.
The return route takes you via Streefkerk, Giessenburg and Noordeloos on quiet polder roads. Bend after bend, bridge after bridge, and always that view of ditches, dikes and fields. Eventually you arrive back at Molenzicht, where your route began — and where you now return satisfied.

The Lek en Lingeroute is a beautiful tour for every motorcyclist who loves river landscapes, historical places and relaxed steering. The route combines nature with culture and offers plenty of opportunities to get off and really experience the surroundings. The roads are quiet, the asphalt good, and the sights surprising. This ride is beautiful all year round, but is best enjoyed in the spring or on a clear autumn day. A classic in the making - and one you will want to ride again.

The 10 most beautiful car and motorcycle routes in Limburg
Limburg, who thinks of Limburg, thinks of flan, coal mines, marl and the hill country. The coal mines have been closed for almost 40 years, the last load of coal was brought up from the Oranje-Nassau coal mine in Heerlen on 31 December and, as they say, South Limburg was transformed from Black to Green and unfortunately there is still little left. view of this period.

But not only pie, marl and coal in Limburg, but also a very beautiful province to tour by car or motorcycle and enjoy all the beauty that the province of Limburg has to offer. For this, the MyRoute app RouteXpert has put together a Top 10 of Car and Motorcycle routes for you.
