This excursion around the north-east Cotwolds includes lovely villages and good driving roads. Mid-way there is a stop for brunch or afternoon tea at Bruern Farm, an excellent cafe serving local produce. The route passes through Woodstock (Blenheim Palace); the "TT route" to pick up some speed after Charlbury; Clanfield (with two excellent gastropubs) - the Double Red Duke is very nice); the pretty village of Bamford; and returns by the Swinford Toll Bridge (5p for cars, when manned). The busy A40 is avoided as are most of the usual tourist spots. There can be some tourist traffic in Burford. The rest of the roads are generally quiet, fast, or both.
