RouteXpert Review
The route starts in the picturesque village of Nieuw-Heeten, a Sallands village in the municipality of Raalte, province of Overijssel and has approximately 1,200 inhabitants. The village is located in the middle of meadows on the edge of the Sallandse Heuvelrug.
In the center is 't Pleintie, a square with a work of art consisting of four parts 't Gonst, made by sculptor Saske van Eerden. The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Joseph on Scholtenstraat dates from 1923 and was designed by architect Wolter te Riele.

The start is between the church and the school. After just under a kilometer you cycle along the edge of the Sallandse Heuvelrug. After about 2 miles at the junction, there are actually year-round Scottish highlanders, also known as Highland Cow, a mostly reddish-brown breed of cattle that originates from Scotland. They have long hair and long horns.
A few kilometers further you come to "Erve De Pas" on the edge of the village of Haarle, it is a place where nature and cultural history come together. You can enjoy a delicious meal in the authentic inn, have informal meetings in the old barn and the information barn of Natuurmonumenten is located in the former pig barn next to the inn. An ideal starting or ending point for a walk, bike ride or excursion with the forester through a nature reserve.
From "De Pass" you cycle through the woods towards Nijverdal, the (sandy) roads are fine and the views excellent.

Arriving in Nijverdal you cycle towards Hellendoorn along the Regge, an Overijssel river. The current river starts at Westerflier estate southwest of Diepenheim as a branch of the Schipbeek and consists of the Boven-Regge, the Midden-Regge and the Beneden-Regge. The river flows into the Overijsselse Vecht at Ommen.

After a few kilometers you will pass the hamlet of Schuilenburg, a hamlet in the municipality of Hellendoorn in the province of Overijssel. It is located in the center of the municipality, two kilometers north of Hellendoorn. In Schuilenburg are the remains of the manor Schuilenburg from which the hamlet has derived its name.

Then it's time to have a cup of coffee and/or something to eat. A beautiful location is Monument Park 1813, on the Lemelerberg.
When the park was built in 1913, a monument to commemorate the independence of the Netherlands was erected. The monument took the form of a reclining lion on a pedestal. In 1934 this monument was replaced by a seated lion on a column. The old monument was weathered and destroyed by wantonness. When he died in 1928, the founder of the Oranjebond van Orde, Johan Hora Siccama van de Harkstede, left a sum of money for the erection of a new monument. The new monument was created by the sculptor Gijs Jacobs van den Hof.

After coffee you can continue the route towards Luttenberg. There is a beautiful museum that is definitely worth a visit, the Sallands Agricultural Museum "De Laarman"
What once started with the purchase of one tractor has now grown into an agricultural museum.
De Laarman wants the visitor to experience something about food production for humans and animals. The museum is located in a former animal feed factory where the sturdy compound feed installation can still be admired.
You will find a nice combination of old farm machinery and computer simulations, vegetable history, cow and milk, and much more. The striking building stands on the flank of the Luttenberg and offers a wonderful view over the fields and a forest in which to walk.
After this visit you can follow the route further to cycle back to the start of the route.
A beautiful bike ride and a must for enthusiasts.
