View route collection The ultimate Great Lakes Tour
About this route collection
This is a tour from Chicago to Staten Island, New York visiting the 5 Great Lakes of North America.
Starting from EagleRider Motorcycle rental at Illinois Harley-Davidson in Chicago and ending at EagleRider Motorcycle rental in Staten Island.
The Ultimate Great Lakes tour is a route through the United States and Canada to scenic destinations along Lakes Michigan, Superior, Huron, Erie and Ontario.
What are the Great Lakes? The Great Lakes are a series of five interconnected freshwater lakes located on the border of the United States and Canada. They are the largest group of freshwater lakes in the world by area and have sea-like characteristics such as rolling waves, strong currents, miles of sandy and rocky beaches, and distant horizons. This tour of 8 routes includes places to stop for coffee, lunch and overnight hotels. It also visits well known historic and scenic sites along the way mostly avoiding major highways. I have suggested 2 nights at Lake Superior and 2 nights at Niagara Falls, making this a 10 day tour, but of course, that is up to you. The scenery and landscapes are breathtaking and each day is different to the next. Please enjoy.

About this route collection
Plans to go motorcycle through Australia? Then read the following five tips carefully, so that you can start your motorcycle holiday well prepared. Good preparation is half the job.

1. Determine in advance where you want to rent your motorcycle. Find a reliable rental company with good reviews. By comparing the prices of various rental companies, you can save a lot of money.
2. Plan your routes in advance. Australia is so big that it is useful to know in advance where exactly you want to go.
3. In Australia you don't just get from A to B: you have to drive long to get to your next destination. Practicing with long motorcycling is therefore highly recommended.
Always check the weather forecast. You can't take a lot with you on the bike, so only bring what you really need according to the weather forecast.
5. Are you going in high season? Then book your accommodations in advance. If you plan to go camping, invest in a good tent.

Motor rents:
AussieRider: https://www.aussierider.com/bikes/australie/#
EagleRider: https://www.eaglerider.com/motorverhuur/australia

General:
Toll roads:
Toll roads are ideal for getting around or through a huge city like Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, and are very easy to use. There are no toll booths so there is no on-site payment. The toll must be paid by telephone and credit card within three days after using the road or tunnel. When you pick up the rental engine, you will receive all information about it. It is a simple system but it does require action from yourself to avoid fines.
Traffic rules motor:
Motorcycling rules in Australia vary by state or territory. Inquire about the regulations on the spot.

Helmet:
Wearing a helmet is mandatory for driver and passenger. The helmet must comply with the Australian Standard (AS / NZS1698) or the European Standard (UNECE 22.05), which is indicated on a sticker on, or a label inside, the helmet. In some states, such as New South Wales and Victoria, a helmet may no longer meet the standard if a small camera is mounted, speakers (Bluetooth) are built in, or the helmet has a tinted visor.
Lighting: Low beam is not mandatory during the day, but is recommended.

Passengers:
The transport of 1 passenger is allowed. Children under 8 years old should not be transported on the motorcycle. Children from 8 years old may only be transported on the back if they can reach the footrests with their feet. Younger children may be transported in a sidecar. In several states, such as New South Wales, Northern Territory and Queensland, the carriage of a passenger is only permitted if the driver has a motorcycle license for more than a year.

Riding side by side:
Engines may be driven side by side, provided that their mutual distance does not exceed 1.5 m.

Traffic jams:
In Australia it is allowed to slalom through a traffic jam between the stationary or slow-moving cars (lane filtering), provided that a maximum speed of 30 km / h is maintained and other traffic is not endangered.

Gas stations:
In Australia, a gas station is often called servo (derived from service station). In the outback, a gas station is often called road house. Pay attention; The number of petrol stations is very limited, especially along the southern main route and the north-south connections. Keep this in mind and bring enough spare fuel. For example, use the Fuel Map Australia app (fuelmap.com.au) to search for nearby petrol stations and find out what current fuel prices they have.

Opening hours:
Service stations are usually open from 8 am to 6 pm or 8 pm anyway. Many service stations in larger towns and along highways offer a 24-hour service or have gas dispensers. When planning longer journeys, keep in mind that petrol stations are not open at night or in the morning, and sometimes on Sundays, outside of the major towns and along smaller roads.

Pay:
Cash can be paid at petrol stations. Credit cards are accepted at most petrol stations.

Refueling machines:
At credit machines (pay-at-the-pump), major credit cards are usually accepted, but a PIN code must often be used.

Reserve fuel:
Because the distances between places in Australia are large and gas stations in the outback may not always have sufficient fuel in stock, it is recommended that you always bring a spare tank of fuel with you. It is forbidden to carry fuel in a reserve tank on ferries.

About this route collection
12 Day Iceland Road Trip

Driving in Iceland is a great experience whether you travel by car or as described in this review by motorcycle.

This route collection is based on information about Iceland that you can find on the Internet, especially from the Guide to Iceland, where you can find a wealth of information to prepare you well for your trip.

You drive through landscapes that are varied and beautiful, you see glacier tongues, volcanic mountains, geothermal areas with active geysers, lava fields, craters, forests, waterfalls and incredibly rugged stretches of coast. You will also see many animals such as seals, killer whales, humpback whales, puffins, gulls, olives and petrels

The main roads are of good quality but you also drive a lot on gravel roads, so not suitable for road motorcycles. Some of these roads are sometimes closed due to the weather.

It is therefore important that you check the weather forecasts and the situation of the roads every day before you leave, this information can be found on the website of "Icelandic Meteorological Office" and for the roads on the website of "The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration" "

Due to the Icelandic climate this trip can only be made in the summer and is suitable for car and motorcycle. Renting cars (also 4x4) and motorbikes is possible in Reykjavik.
If you want your own car or motorcycle, you can make a ferry crossing from the Netherlands or Denmark via the Faroe Islands. Then take another week off for the crossings, or longer because you can also make beautiful rides on Faroe Islands.

This route collection consists of the following routes

Day 1 from Reykjavik to Vik (350km)
Day 2 from Vik to Kirkjubaejarklaustur (215km)
Day 3 from Kirkjubaejarklaustur to Hoefn (225km)
Day 4 from Hoefn to Seydisfjoerdur (295km)
Day 5 from Seydisfjoerdur to Husavik (300km)
Day 6 from Husavik to Siglufjordur (260km)
Day 7 from Siglufjordur to Blonduos (220km)
Day 8 from Blonduos to Reykholar (325km)
Day 9 from Reykholar to Patreksfjordur (455km)

View route collection 5 round trip routes on the beautiful sunshine island of Madeira
About this route collection
This collection of 5 round trip routes will take you to every corner of the beautiful winter sunshine island of Madeira. The reviews contain links to two popular motorcycle/car rental companies (others available) that will allow you to explore the island at your leisure.
Geologically dramatic and bursting with exotic colour, Portugal’s most enchanting island is a place that has a subtropical climate making it an ideal location for a short winter break.
Ride along the island’s coast to discover secluded coves, rocky beaches and charming fishing villages serving the freshest seafood. The southern coastal road is twisty with flowers lining the roads and banana plantations on the terraced hillsides, while the northern coast is much more spectacular, characterised by steep cliffs and valleys. Stop for a refreshing dip in the beautiful rock pools by the village of Porto Moniz, marvel at the vineyards in Seixal or explore the island’s unique volcanic formations with a tour of the mesmerising caves and lava tubes in São Vicente. The routes use the winding roads to discover the island’s mountainous interior. The Paul da Serra plateau, the highest point in the western part of the island, offers spectacular views across the unique landscape.
The wide variety of sights and activities means that Madeira is the ideal destination for the more intrepid or independent tourist who wants more than just sitting by the pool for their holiday.

View route collection Tour Poland Slovakia and the Czech Republic
About this route collection
This collection of routes is based on a 3-week vacation that I rode with my partner in June 2018.

The journey goes through Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and a piece of Germany. In total there are 11 driving days, a combination of touristic tours and routes from A to B. All routes avoid the highway and go exclusively on the smaller roads, which makes it a beautiful and varied journey.

Along the way you regularly come across sights, where you can stop to look around. These vary from beautiful viewpoints, to museums and special buildings. You also visit various national nature parks along the way, such as the Tatra Mountains, the Giant Mountains, Eagle Mountains, Krkonoše and Bohemian Switzerland. Because the overnight places are often also located in these areas, you can alternate the driving days with days with wonderful hiking trips.

If you only want to ride a motorcycle, then this collection can also be done in 2 weeks (including a return trip from the Netherlands).

The routes themselves can be challenging from time to time, particularly because the quality of the road surface in Eastern Europe - especially on the small country roads - is not always good. In June 2018 all routes were on paved roads.

View route collection Top Car and Motor tour through Sweden and Norway
About this route collection
Sweden and Norway are beautiful countries. You will find nice cities, but also impressive nature reserves. This versatility makes Sweden & Norway the perfect countries for an impressive motorcycle vacation.

In this collection 14 beautiful routes through Sweden & Norway.

Good preparation is half the battle, so please read the tips below carefully.
1. Check the weather forecast. It can be very hot in Sweden & Norway, but it can also get very cold. Always check the weather forecast before you go, so that you can pack the right clothes.
2. Determine in advance which route or routes you want to follow. That way you don't drive like a chicken without a head and you can make the most of your days off in these beautiful countries.
3. Learn about traffic rules. Slightly different rules apply in Sweden & Norway in some situations than in the Netherlands. By delving into the traffic rules, you prevent that you (unknowingly) commit a traffic violation and / or put yourself in a dangerous situation.

Furthermore, it is wise to book the accommodations in advance. It may be more fun to drive through these countries on the receipt, but you don't want to have to drive around endlessly to find a place to sleep. If you go to Sweden or Norway in the high season, the chance that you have to look for a place to sleep is greatest. It is also possible to camp during your motorcycle trip, but then find out in advance where this is and is not allowed. You cannot pitch your tent everywhere.

As the largest country in Scandinavia you can go on extensive tours in a unique environment. Forests, lakes, nature parks and agricultural areas largely determine the landscape, which also consists of flat parts and rolling hills. Around the Swedish-Norwegian border lies the Scandinavian Highland, where the mountains rise locally to 2100 meters.

Norway is known for its amazing natural beauty. Fjords that tens of miles into the country, snow-covered high plains, sharp mountain peaks and vast forests. In this sparsely populated country, most people live in the cities, the capital of which is Oslo.

Tolls must be paid on a large number of roads in Norway. Anyone approaching a toll road can simply drive on without stopping. With cameras above the road, the license plate of the vehicle is scanned, not the license plate of the trailer or caravan. It takes a long time for the photos to be processed.
The bill is then sent to the Euro Parking Collection (EPC) in London within four to six months.

Mandatory on the motorcycle: Safety vest - A motorcyclist must bring at least one safety vest. In the event of a breakdown or accident, the driver is obliged to wear a safety vest. The ANWB advises motorcyclists to also take a safety vest for a possible passenger.
Advice: First aid kit, motorcyclists are advised to bring a first aid kit.

View route collection An epic tour down the west coast of Italy to Sicily
About this route collection
This tour of 11 routes has been designed to take you to many of the well known sites in Italy, it even includes some lesser known sites that I think you'll enjoy too.
When they can, the routes will take you as close as you can get to the sites, like the Leaning Tower of Pisa just 100 m from where you park, or the Ponte Vecchio bridge in Florence where you'll pass right by the end of it and one route takes you as far as you can go up the active volcano Mount Etna.
I said this is a tour of 11 routes and not 11 days because I think you should stop an extra night at one or two places to really enjoy everything that Italy has to offer. For instance; an extra night at La Spezia gives you the opportunity to visit the famous chain of five picturesque seaside fishing villages known as the Cinque Terre. An extra night at the volcanic crater lake - Lake Bracciano, will allow you to take a short train ride into the city Rome to see all of her sights. I'd like an extra night at Salerno to ride the Amalfi Coast road again and another at Cefalu on the island of Sicily to enjoy the spectacular coastline.
What better way to discover amazing Italy than on a road tour? With 80% of world heritage sites, an Italian road tour surely promises an experience worth living!
From a motorcyclist’s point of view, Italy is among the best places in the world to ride. Twisty roads, close distances between sea, hills and mountains – you only need to ride a few miles and the landscape changes completely. Excellent food, good weather and reasonable costs make Italy an attractive touring place for bikers. Reasonably priced hotels and B&Bs; have been used with links to these on each route review.

Route highlights:
Route 1: The Italian Riviera and Portofino.
Route 2: Pisa, Florence and Siena.
Route 3. Volcanic crater lakes and the Tuscany landscape.
Route 4. Twisty roads through the foothills of the Lepini mountains.
Route 5. The Amalfi Coast road.
Route 6. The equally spectacular Cilento Coast road.
Route 7. Tropea and the Coast of Gods.
Route 8. Climbing Mount Etna and the incredibly twisty road to Cefalu.
Route 9. Twisty roads and The Valley of the Temples.
Route 10. The pure white cliffs of Scala dei Turchi and the Selinunte Temples.
Route 11. The salt pans of Trapani and the Grotta Mangiapane.

The tour ends in the ferry port of Palermo where you have a choice to either take to the road to head off of the island at Messina or hop on a ferry. Ferry destinations from Palermo include Genoa in northern Italy, the Italian island of Sardinia where you can tour the island and hop on another ferry to France, or even take a ferry to Tunisia in North Africa. The choice is yours. I hope you have enjoyed this tour.

View route collection 24 Magnificent routes in France
About this route collection
That France is one of the most beautiful and best touring countries is beyond doubt. It offers an incredibly varied landscape with good roads and a pleasant climate. It is not for nothing that you see so many motorcyclists there. My previous collection of 25 routes in France (25 Magnificent routes in France) were based on the route descriptions from the Motorbike Guide France part 1 made by Bert Loorbach.

This collection of 24 routes comes from Motortourgids France part 2. With this collection a difference has been made between approach routes and motorcycle tours in a certain area. The approach routes can also be used in combination with the routes from Motortourgids France part 1

The routes are sometimes slightly adjusted based on the tips that Bert Loorbach gives in his description, or because of a different place to spend the night, or to achieve the minimum length of 2 hours for the MRA Library. For each route there is a more detailed description in the review, including options for accommodation or places of interest along the way, which are also indicated with a POI and, if possible, with a short description.

Two or more routes have been made for a number of areas, such as Burgundy, Auvergne, The Alps, Tarn and Cévennen and Nord-Pas de Calais. These routes can be nicely combined in a multi-day trip.

About this route collection
MRA NAVIGATION GRAND TOUR 2019 in short:
From 2019, MyRoute-app organizes every year the "MyRoute-app Navigation Grand Tour" exclusively for MyRoute-app Navigation users. During the Grand Tour you drive 4 routes during the calendar year. A few commands are included in each route. Participants who capture all 4 tracks via MyRoute-app Navigation have the chance to win a great prize. In 2019 we had chosen the 2nd World War as the theme for the 4 routes.

The routes and the assignments:
As mentioned, the theme of 2019 was the 2nd World War. A loaded theme, you are confronted with the dual nature of humanity; the willingness to kill for an ideology, we are better than them, cruelty, slaughter, but also heroism and sacrifices, would it ever change? I myself am very interested in world history, I have even studied it for a year at the university and certainly the 1st and 2nd world war have my interest. So it was no task to put together the routes, drive yourself and come up with the assignments.

Have fun driving these beautiful and interesting routes with a loaded theme!

View route collection Six Day Roadtrip Nashville Chattanooga Great Smoky Mountains Gatlinburg
About this route collection
6 Days Road Trip through Tennessee and North Carolina; Nashville - Chattanooga - Stecoah - Gatlinburg - Nashville.

America is pre-eminently a country to explore on a motorcycle. There are many travel organizations that offer organized trips, but the charm is for me to map out routes myself and start driving on my own. That's why I created these routes.

We drive on beautiful roads in the states of Nashville and North Carolina. This area is characterized by the beautiful idyllic landscape with winding roads that wind through the landscape.

We drive through several nature parks such as, Cherokee National Forest, Pisgah National Forest and we are three days in the Great Smoky Mountains.

In these areas we drive on beautiful roads with many curves and beautiful panoramas such as, the Tail of the Dragon, the Cherohala Skyway, Blue Ridge Parkway, Natchez State Parkway, Little River Gorge Road and Foothills Parkway, some are officially recognized Scenic Byways or even specially laid out as Scenic Byway.

We start and end in Nashville and we stay in Chattanooga and Gatlinburg, there is much to do and see in all three cities. In the Smokey Mountains we spend the night at a Motorcycle Lodge and Resort near Robbinsville.

For each route, the review contains a more detailed description of each day.

The route is suitable for TomTom, Garmin, Harley-Davidson BoomBox 2 (2019 model) and MyRoute-app Navigation.

View route collection Great 6 day tour of Wales
About this route collection
This collection of 6 routes all pass through at least 1 of the 3 spectacular national parks of Wales'. Each park is unique and individual and the landscapes vary from the vast, remote and wide open moorland of the Brecon Beacons to the rugged mountains and glistening lakes of Snowdonia and the spectacular coastline of the Pembrokeshire coast. Each is a delight to travel through and these routes will take you to some of the best beauty spots.
There are some great attractions to visit too, as well as having more than it's fair share of fantastic castles and historic buildings, there is the worlds fastest zip line, a balcony road used for world rally stages, mysterious caves and magical waterfalls and a museum of land speed records. All of these can be seen on the routes in this collection.
Although each route in this collection is a separate stand alone route, they will all link up seamlessly to make a 6 day tour that you will remember. The tour starts and ends in Gloucester which can be easily reached in a day from any of the Channel ports.
Enjoy Wales.

View route collection 6 Must do routes in The Highlands of Scotland
About this route collection
This collection of routes in the spectacular Scottish Highland's offers a great way to experience the full spectrum of what this region has to offer - snowcapped mountains, loch after loch, areas of solitary wilderness, white sandy beaches and a multitude of historic castles and buildings that reflect the past, the Highland's have everything. The weather however, cannot be guaranteed and somebody once said " Nobody visits Scotland for the weather"!
May can be a very good time of year to visit - temperatures can be pleasant and it's often a dry month with the added bonus that it's too early for the midgies. Many of the roads are single lane but largely empty and well maintained so the riding is comfortable and stress free allowing you to take in the views and there really is a wow around every corner. The pass at Glencoe for example is staggeringly impressive - you can actually see the geology and appreciate how it was scooped out by glaciers.
The people you encounter are warm and engaging and the food is good.
The very popular North Coast 500 route is included for those of you with Iron Butts that like a 1 day challenge. For me, the best way of enjoying the NC 500 is with two overnight stops, so the route includes these if required.

View route collection 5 Great rides in the south west of England
About this route collection
Come to the The West Country in the southwest of England and explore it's very beautiful and varied landscape. The coastal roads are arguably the best in England, these allow you to really appreciate the beautiful and sometimes wild and rugged shores of the southwest. Inland is very rural and is heavily farmed, mainly with livestock which thrive on the rich pastures and hillsides. There are 3 moors in the West Country, Exmoor, Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor. Exmoor and Dartmoor are National parks and are magical to ride or drive through giving the traveller a "WoW" around every corner.
I must mention the towns and villages too, there are countless historical buildings to seek out and view from castles and prehistoric stones to prisons and wooden sheds. The West Country people have been receiving guests for hundreds of years and you will always receive a warm welcome.
I live in the West Country and have put this collection of 5 routes together that show off my home region to it's finest. Enjoy.

About this route collection
This MRA route collection contains 25 beautiful motorcycle routes in different parts of France, such as the Ardennes, Alsace, Vercors, the Drôme, the Ardèche, Cote d'Azure, Gorges du Verdon, the Ariège, the Dordogne and Brittany.

The routes have been carefully made by Bert Loorbach, who himself is an enthusiastic motorcyclist. He lived in France for a year and a half and during that time he focused on mapping the unknown and beautiful roads of France especially for motorcyclists.

The routes are bundled in the Motortourgids France part 1 of Kosmos publishing house and now also available in MyRouteApp.

I have taken over the routes in MRA and sometimes adjusted something to make them even more interesting for the motorcyclist.

View route collection The Top 5 Car and Motor Routes around the Norwegian Fjords
About this route collection
Norway, who doesn't want to go on a motorcycle or car (camper)? Norway, officially the Kingdom of Norway, is a country in Northern Europe. Norway is located on the western part of the Scandinavian Peninsula and borders Sweden, Finland and Russia.

Just to Norway, forget it! You don't go to Norway for a while, take at least 14 days to absorb all the beauty of Norway. The 5 routes along the most famous fjords of Norway can be the start of an unforgettable holiday. In terms of natural beauty, Norway is certainly in the top ten most desirable holiday countries. Fjords, snowy peaks, mirroring lakes: every square meter is a treat.

Some of the Top 10 tips from the ANWB are included in these 5 routes, such as:

Preikestolen
Hint in advance: you should not suffer from fear of heights when you visit Norway's most popular vantage point. Preikestolen is a super-steep rock that towers 604 meters above the Lysefjord. In fact, you get two for the price of one, because the four-kilometer walk to the vantage point is just as phenomenal. Preikestolen is even the most popular Norwegian hiking destination.

Fjords
They are considered to be one of the world's most beautiful natural wonders: the imposing Norwegian fjords. Millions of years ago they were worn out by huge ice masses. It is an unforgettable experience to sail on a ship between the steep rock walls, but you can also admire the fjords from various vantage points. Spectacular include Geirangerfjord, Trollfjord, Sognefjord and Hardangerfjord. Certainly one of the most beautiful sights in Norway.

Trollstigen
The Trollstigen, also known as the Troll route, has what you call the wow factor. You will experience no less than 11 hairpin bends on the 20-kilometer route; the average increase is 8 percent with a maximum of 10 percent. A pill against motion sickness can do no harm ... On the way it is a celebration of waterfalls, steep mountain walls and fjords. Bonus: the beautiful view of the Geirangerfjord.

All routes in this collection have been checked and made the same for TomTom, Garmin and MyRoute-app Navigation!

Have fun with this collection and while driving one of these routes. Enjoy all the beauty that Norway has to offer. Click on “View route” to read the review of the chosen route.

View route collection Three-day weekend in the Moselle
About this route collection
The Moselle is a well-known and loved place for most Dutch motorcyclists. Not too far from home, you will find a beautiful nature reserve with wonderfully winding roads, beautiful views and delicious German food, wine and beer. And because it is so close, it is often also the first experience abroad for the novice motorcyclist. The roads offer enough space to practice your cornering technique well.
This collection is therefore made for this. The routes offer sufficient challenge for the novice motorcyclist, but also a lot of driving pleasure for the more experienced pilot. Are you going on a long weekend (3 days) with a group of motorcyclists on the road, with varying levels of experience, then this set of routes is a good option.
The collection consists of 3 rides that lead you through the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. You drive through the Eifel, Moselle and Hunsrück. Sometimes on fast through roads, then again on small winding country roads. As a result, the routes offer enough variety, also due to a number of interesting viewpoints and places to visit.
Have fun driving the routes and especially share your feedback with afterwards!
FYI: the routes have been checked and made the same for Garmin, TomTom and MyRoute-app Navigation users.

View route collection The 24 Most Beautiful Alps Routes
About this route collection
The Alps, the Alps are a mountain range in Europe, stretching from the French Mediterranean coast in the southwest to the Pannonian plain in the east. The area of the mountains is more than 200,000 km².

In other words Passes and Mountain roads!

Driving through the mountains is great! Certainly over the mountain passes with hairpin bends and narrow winding roads. Every turn a different view where you can enjoy. There are many beautiful mountain passes in the Alps.

A selection that is also processed in these routes:
The Stleviopas:
The Stelvio Pass, also known as Passo dello Stelvio, is best known for the stage in the Giro d'Italia. In cycling, this pass is seen as one of the toughest tests due to the length and the difference in height. The Stelviopas reaches a maximum height of 2758 meters and is therefore one of the highest in the Alps. Bormio and Prato Allo Stelvio are connected to the pass. The pass is closed in winter due to heavy snowfall.

The Reschen pass:
The Reschen Pass, also known as Passo di Resia, connects the Austrian state of Tyrol with the Italian province of South Tyrol. The pass reaches a maximum height of 1504 meters and has been one of the most important north-south connections in the Alps in recent centuries. The pass was used well before Roman times. Along the way you pass multiple highlights and historical remains. One of the highlights is the Reschensee. This lake was created after the construction of the dam and has completely drained the village of Graun. The only thing that is reminded of this is the clock tower in the middle of the lake.

Col du Galibier:
The French mountain pass Col du Galibier connects the towns of Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne and Briançon via the Col du Lautaret in the south and the Col du Télégraphe in the north. The mountain pass is part of the Tour de France and very feared, due to the fact that it is only accessible via the other two mountain passes. The pass reaches a maximum height of 2646 meters. From there you can take a walk to the viewpoint at 2704 meters. You can admire the peaks of the Grand Galibier, Mont Blanc and La Meije, among others.

The Grossglockner High Alpine Road:
With a height of 3798 meters, the Grossglockner is the highest mountain in Austria. In order to optimally enjoy this impressive mountain, you can drive along the Grossglockner High Alpine Road and associated pass. The route starts from Bruck am Grossglockner and ends in Heiligenblut. You can of course drive both ways. The pass reaches a maximum height of 2504 meters and is closed in winter due to the heavy snowfall. Along the way you pass several stops with fun activities, information points, mountain huts and viewpoints. We recommend a visit to the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe and Pasterzen glacier.

The Col d'Izoard:
Just like the Col du Galibier, the Col d'Izoard is also part of a stage of the Tour de France. The mountain pass connects Briançon with the valley of the Guil river. The pass lies partly in the Regional Natural Park of Queyras and reaches a maximum height of 2360 meters. The bare and rocky landscape is special about the Col d'Izoard. It sometimes seems as if you are driving over the moon by car! Along the way you can stop at several points to enjoy the beautiful view.

The Bernina pass:
The Bernina Express is one of the most famous rail trains in Switzerland and the Alps. The route is beautiful and partly included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Parallel to the railway line is the Bernina Pass, which connects the Veltlindal with the Egandin Valley. This beautiful Alpine road has a total length of 56 kilometers and reaches a maximum height of 2328 meters. Along the way you can enjoy views of the Morteratsch Glacier, among other things.

The Sella pass:
The Sella pass, also known as Passo di Sella, takes you on one of the most impressive mountain ranges of the Dolomites: the Sella massif. The pass connects Valle di Fassa with Val Gardena and reaches a maximum height of 2236 meters. At this altitude is also the border of the Italian provinces of Trentino and Bolzano. Along the way you can enjoy the view of this spectacular mountain world. Admire, for example, the three peaks of the Sasso Lungo mountain range, the Sella mountain range or the peaks of the Marmolada. You can also drive the Sella pass in combination with the Gardena pass, Pordoi pass and Campolongo pass.

The Grimsel pass:
The Grimsel Pass connects Goms in Wallis with the Halis Valley in the Bernese Oberland. The pass reaches a maximum height of 2165 meters and is closed in winter due to snowfall. The mountain pass has played an important role in trade between Switzerland and Italy over the centuries. Now it is mainly the reservoirs that have an important function. These are used for the generation of electricity. The landscape you drive through is rugged, rocky and impressive. On top of the pass is a hotel and a restaurant with a special marmot park. The Dodensee (Totensee) is also located here. This lake owes its name to the many fallen soldiers in the time of Napoleon.

The Gotthard pass:
The Gotthard pass, also called Passo del San Gottardo and Sint-Gotthard, connects the Swiss towns of Airolo and Andermatt. The mountain pass and associated tunnel are best known among holidaymakers who travel from Switzerland to Italy. But where the majority opts for the tunnel, it is precisely the pass that really makes the holiday complete. The Gotthard pass has a length of approximately 26 kilometers and reaches a maximum height of 2106 meters. The route is beautiful and takes you past old villages and beautiful views.

The Silvretta High Alpine Road and Silvretta Pass:
The Paznaun Valley in Tyrol and the Montafon in Vorarlberg are connected by the Silvretta Hochalpenstraße. The route has a length of 22.3 kilometers and leads from Galtür to Partenen in 34 hairpin bends, via the 2032 meter high Bielerhöhe. At this point is also the Silvrettasee, where you can walk. The pass is closed in winter due to snowfall.

The Simplon pass:
Just like the Gotthard pass, many holidaymakers travel the Simplon pass every year. This mountain pass connects the Rhone valley in the Valais canton with the Valle d'Ossola in Piedmont. The pass is open all year round and reaches a maximum height of 2005 meters. Along the way you pass a number of buildings, including the famous Simplon-Hospiz from 1825. The hospiz is managed by the monks of St. Bernard. From the highest point on the pass all kinds of walking routes are possible and you will also come across a hotel where you can spend the night.

The Gerlospas:
The Gerlos Pass connects the Salzachtal in the Salzburgerland with the Zillertal in Tyrol. The pass is part of the Gerlos Alpenstraße and runs right through the Hohe Tauern National Park. Along the way you can enjoy beautiful views of the surroundings. The pass has a length of 12 kilometers and reaches a maximum height of 1531 meters. A ride on the Gerlos Pass is ideal to combine with a visit to the Krimmler Wasserfälle.

The Great St. Bernhard Pass:
The Great St. Bernhard Pass, better known as the Col du Grand Saint Bernard, connects the Italian province of Valle d'Aosta with the Swiss canton of Valais. The pass is one of the highest in Switzerland and reaches a maximum height of 2469 meters. Just like a number of other mountain passes in this list, the Great St. Bernhard Pass has been used for centuries as a connecting road. The pass has its name to think of the St. Bernard dogs who used to help stranded travelers with the monks. The pass is closed in winter.

The Timmelsjoch Hochalpenstrasse:
The Timmelsjoch Hochalpenstrasse connects the towns of Sölden in the Ötztal and Meran in South Tyrol. Toll must be paid on the route Hochgurgl - Moos. Via a mountain road with around 60 hairpin bends you drive through a beautiful mountain world. With the Timmelsjoch Experience you can find out more about the history, the road and the surroundings from various stations. You can also visit the Top Mountain Crosspoint museum.

Col de l'Iséran:
With a maximum pass height of 2770 meters, the Col l'Iséran is one of the highest mountain passes in the Alps. The pass connects Bourg-Saint-Maurice with Bonneval-sur-Arc. You pass Val-d'Isère and a side valley of the Maurienne, which is located entirely in the Vanoise National Park, along a road full of hairpin bends. You can spot animals such as marmots and chamois and there is also a restaurant with a chapel on top of the pass.

The Gaviapas:
The Gaviapass (Italian Passo di Gavia) is a mountain pass in the Italian Alps, in the Lombardy region.
It is one of the highest pass roads in Europe. The road leads right through the unspoilt Stelvio National Park. The road was laid in the First World War for the supply of Italian soldiers who fought in the Italian-Austrian border area. The pass height is one of the most beautiful in the Alps. Here lies the large Lago Bianco with, to the north, the mountain San Matteo (3684 meters). The Lago Nero is slightly lower on the south side of the pass. The Adamello mountain group determines the view here. Many well-marked walks have been plotted in the area. During the winter the pass is closed due to the enormous snowfall. The pass is often closed until May and June due to the large amount of snow.

View route collection Top 5 Car and Motorcycle routes in the Black Forest
About this route collection
The Black Forest, who hasn't heard of it yet? The Black Forest is a densely forested area and low mountain ranges in southwestern Germany, located in Baden-Württemberg, on the Rhine and on the French border. It is the largest low mountain range in Germany. Geologically it is related to the Vosges, which lie on the French side of the Rhine. The highest peak in the Black Forest is the Feldberg with an altitude of 1493 meters above sea level. The Black Forest is the largest forest area in Germany and consists mainly of pine and spruce trees. The Black Forest is known as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Germany. A small particle in the north is protected as the Schwarzwald National Park. The Romans called the densely forested mountains with its characteristic dark pine trees Silva Nigra - "the Black or Dark Forest or impenetrable forest", which was ominous and almost impenetrable to them. The German word Schwarzwald was used for the first time in a document from the Swiss monastery St. Gallen from the year 868. A well-known car route is the Schwarzwald-Hochstraße, B 500 and Uhrenstraße. The Black Forest is known worldwide for the fairy tales of the Grimm brothers.

There are also several lakes in the Black Forest, namely: Titisee, Glaswaldsee, Mummelsee, Kirnbergsee, Feldsee, Schluchsee and the Hotzenwald.
The highest peaks in the Black Forest are: Feldberg (1493 m), Seebuck (1448 m), Herzogenhorn (1415 m), Belchen (1414 m), Schauinsland (1284 m), Kandel (1243 m) and the Hornisgrinde (1164 m) ).

View route collection The 10 most beautiful car and motorcycle routes in North Holland
About this route collection
Noord-Holland, Alkmaar, the cheese market, who doesn't know it? But not only this, North Holland has dunes, polders and peat meadow areas where you can walk and cycle to your heart's content. And there is water, lots of water. From the North Sea coast to the IJsselmeer coast, this area also exhibits great contrasts from the dunes to West Friesland. For example, dynamic urban areas can coexist with unspoilt, picturesque villages. And empty, strictly designed land reclamations are right next to whimsical peat meadow areas full of chattering birds.

No, if you are looking for clarity, you have nothing to look for here. But those who love this colorful procession of landscapes, villages and cities such as Alkmaar and Hoorn where you can go for fun, art and culture will undoubtedly return here.

View route collection Top 5 Car and Motorcycle routes in the Eifel
About this route collection
The Eifel is the eastern part of the middle-high plateau of the Eifel-Ardennes. It lies north of the Moselle and west of the Rhine. The largest part is in Germany, a small part is in Belgium, in the East Cantons. The German part of Eifel is located in the states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate. The highest point is the Hohe Acht with 747 meters.

Several chains can be distinguished in the Eifel:
 The northernmost part is called the Nordeifel, which connects to the High Fens in Belgium;
 To the east of it is the Ahrgebirge, this section is located north of the Ahr in the district of Ahrweiler;
 South of the Ahr is the Hohe Eifel (or Hocheifel), of which the Hohe Acht (747 m) is the highest point and also the highest point of the entire Eifel region;
 In the west, against the Belgian border, the hills are known as Schneifel, part of the wider area of the Sneeuweifel with peaks reaching up to 698 meters;
 To the south and east of the Hohe Eifel lies the Volcanic Eifel, a volcanic area with many crater lakes (Maare).
 The southern part of the Eifel is less high. The area is intersected by streams and rivers running southwards. These flows flow into the Moselle. The largest of these rivers is the Kyll; the hills around this river are known as the Kyllwald;
 In the south, the Eifel ends in the Voreifel.

There are some large reservoirs in the north of the Eifel. The largest of these is the reservoir in the Roer that was created by the construction of the Roerdal dam.

In the Eifel is also the Nürburgring, a well-known car circuit for Formula 1 races, among others. Since 2004, part of the north of the Eifel has become the Eifel National Park. This National Park falls entirely within the German-Belgian nature reserve Hoge Venen-Eifel. Another part of the Eifel falls within the South Eifel nature park.

View route collection The 10 most beautiful car and motorcycle routes in Drenthe
About this route collection
Drenthe (old, but preferred) or, new but not preferred: Drente is a province in the Netherlands, located in the northeast of the country. Roughly it borders the province of Groningen in the north, the German state of Lower Saxony in the east, the province of Overijssel in the south and the province of Friesland in the west. The capital and largest city is Assen, the municipality with the most inhabitants is Emmen.

But whoever says Drenthe, says Hunnebedden and the Motor Province of the Netherlands with the TT as the annual high point. Not only a TT, but also a very beautiful province to tour by car or motorcycle and enjoy all the beautiful things that the province of Drenthe has to offer. For this purpose a MyRoute app RouteXpert has compiled a Top 10 of Car and Motorcycle routes for you.

All routes in this collection have been checked and made equal for TomTom, Garmin and MyRoute-app Navigation by a RouteRpert MyRoute-app.

If you think so, I have a very nice route that should certainly not be missing from this collection, send it to:
email: routexpert@myrouteapp.com
Subject: New Route for the Top 10 collection Province of Drenthe compiled by Hans van de Ven.

You have also seen the Tank Bag Tours of 1994 one by one, from now on also as a 1994 collection.
All routes in this collection have been checked and made the same for TomTom, Garmin and MyRoute-app Navigation by a RouteRpert MyRoute-app. The routes follow as much as possible the original route as it was made at the time.

In this collection you visit the following provinces:
• Gelderland
• Overijssel
• Drenthe
• Lower Saxony (Germany)
• Groningen
• Friesland
• Flevoland
• North Holland
• Utrecht
• South-Holland

With the TankTas Tours of 1994 & 1995 you will travel throughout the Netherlands! In this year you are going from Nulde to Maasland

View route collection The 43 ANWB Endangered Routes
About this route collection
You have certainly seen one of the 43 Endangered ANWB routes. When asked whether these can also be offered as 1 file, the MyRoute-app Team started to realize this user wish. You can see the result in this collection, among others.

The series of the 43 Endangered ANWB routes were published in the Promoter between April 2015 and September 2016. In the past, the routes were driven on the basis of the ANWB signs. These signs have disappeared from the streets with the arrival of the navigation systems.

View route collection The 10 most beautiful car and motorcycle routes in the Netherlands
About this route collection
These 10 routes in the Netherlands have been carefully selected, checked and made equal for TomTom, Garmin and MyRoute-app Navigation by a MyRoute-app RouteXpert. The 10 most beautiful motor and car routes in the Netherlands are always a snapshot and a personal opinion of the reviewer. That does not mean that every lover of beautiful roads and interesting sights will enjoy these routes.

The ten routes are spread over 10 provinces, only Flevoland and South Holland have been skipped. Interesting routes can also be found in the MyRoute-app RouteXpert library, but we still want to stick to the 10 most beautiful and not the 12 most beautiful.

Enjoy the many forts and castles that are included in the routes such as Fort Veldhuis in North Holland. But also take a look at the route southeast of Nijmegen and visit the impressive Canadian War Cemetry and Memorial. The 'Overijssel in a nutshell' route includes the oldest house in the Netherlands and perhaps the route along the IJssel is the most beautiful piece of asphalt in the Netherlands.

In this way there is something for everyone in this route collection. If you do not agree with these 10 routes, send us an e-mail, indicate which route (s) you want to remove and which route you want to see instead. Perhaps then your route will be included in this collection of the 10 most beautiful routes in the Netherlands!
