Three-day Eifel trip
About this collection
The route collection 'Three-day Eifel Trip' is a mini-trip to the Eifel in Germany in which both the arrival and departure are part of the combined route fun.
The first route 'Tienen-Rurberg' is already a winding route, in which attention is also paid to the beauty of the region. Sufficient rest points are provided and, if desired, also some tourist stops. The route is certainly suitable for the novice motorcyclist and for people who would like to pay some attention to, for example, a tourist attraction.
The three-day start and end in the sugar city of Tienen. Shortly after departure you will already be diving into the Walloon countryside. It is interesting to know that the speed limits are set differently there. 90 km/h is allowed outside the village and city centres, unless otherwise indicated.
On route 1, you cross various, but very important rivers for the Walloon country, the Meuse, the Ourthe, the Amblève… they all slide under your wheels.
An important place you pass on route 1 is 'Spa', the village where the famous water comes from. If you wish, you can visit one or more sources without obligation. After Spa, pleasant roads take you further to the Rursee where you can spend the night during this mini-trip.
The second stage '60 bends in the Eifel' is a dream of a ride and a very technical, 167 km long route in which 60 hairpin bends become your part in this fascinating, beautiful region. Immediately after starting the route, the first pins appear and they remain so until the end of the route.
Nice long stretches on particularly good road connect nicely with the bends that will put your steering skills to the test.
Besides the fact that you can visit some highlights such as Monschau or Vogelsang, you can also flirt a number of times with the Belgian-German border and you can also visit the - in circles very well-known - biker café 'Biker Ranch' where you can experience German cuisine up close if you wish.
Finally, the 60 pins will take you back to Rurberg where a good night's sleep will be welcome to prepare you for the intensive return journey of this three-day trip.
The return drive from Rurberg to Tienen is a long (263 km), but very enjoyable drive, almost exclusively on local regional roads. The drive takes you past the lakes of Butgenbach & Robertville and past famous places such as Elsenborn, Malmédy, Signal de Botrange, Baraque Michel and Elsenborn. All this while driving through the beautiful High Fens, a nature reserve that is unparalleled in the Ardennes.
Moreover, you also pass the beautiful Limburg Heuvelland and you can visit the three-country point Vaals if you wish.
This three-day tour is easy to do and Rurberg is not deep in Germany. It offers more than sufficient technicality and – for those who also want something different – there is enough diversity not only in Rurberg and the surrounding area, but also on the routes themselves. So something for everyone!
That is why this short, but nevertheless very fun three-day trip is definitely recommended for every type of motorcyclist!
