The journey begins in Tanger and follows the coast down to Casablanca (about 420 km), mainly along the Atlantic coast, which offers a blend of ocean views and diverse landscapes. Along the way, you’ll stop at Cape Spartel, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea - a unique and beautiful view. You’ll also visit the famous Hercules Caves, known for their opening shaped like the African continent.
Throughout the ride, you’ll pass through smaller towns and areas for fuel stops, making it easy to take breaks and stretch. As you approach Casablanca, the route becomes more urban, and traffic picks up, especially closer to the city center.
In Casablanca, you’ll visit the stunning Hassan II Mosque, a beautiful building by the ocean, and enjoy a scenic ride along the Corniche Boulevard, where the coast offers incredible views. Even the rest stops give a taste of Morocco’s history and charm, making each moment memorable.
I rated this route a 3.5 out of 5. The introduction to Moroccan culture, Cape Spartel, and the mosque are definitely highlights. However, this was just the first day of a nine-day journey, and we spent a lot of time on the road without many interesting stops along the way. Casablanca is worth visiting for the mosque and a fantastic dining experience, but it’s not the best city for motorcycle travel. On a future trip to Morocco, I might skip Casablanca altogether.

Cape Spartel
We began our amazing trip in Morocco from the vast Tanger Med Port! Right after leaving the port, it’s crucial to exchange some money. While you can pay for almost everything in Euros, the tolls only accept the local currency, the dirham.
Our adventure kicked off as we rode along the stunning coastal route in the beautiful city of Tangier. The cultural differences in Morocco were evident right from the start. Just a few kilometers in, we arrived at one of the day's highlights: Cape Spartel. Here, you can marvel at the breathtaking view where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea.
Next, we headed to the Hercules Caves, another significant tourist spot. The rock formation here resembles the shape of the African continent. While the natural beauty is interesting, the area felt overly commercialized, which somewhat took away from the experience.
After the caves, we traveled on a fast road towards Casablanca.
At first glance, Casablanca can be overwhelming. The traffic is dense and chaotic, with countless small motorcycles weaving through vehicles. It’s a big city with a lot of vehicles and disordered traffic. However, after about 40-50 minutes of this madness, we were rewarded with the stunning view of the Hassan II Mosque. This magnificent temple is impressive both for its size and its beautiful seaside location. Guided tours are available, making it easy to explore this architectural wonder.
Following our visit to the mosque, we cruised along the Boulevard de la Corniche, a lively coastal avenue filled with attractions. However, it was very crowded and challenging to find a spot to park the motorcycle.
Next, we stopped at the El Hank Lighthouse. The views from here are remarkable, showcasing the mosque and the sea, with luxurious beachfront restaurants nearby.
After leaving the lighthouse, we made a quick stop for fuel, conveniently located near our hotel, ensuring our motorcycles were ready for the next day’s ride.
For dinner in Casablanca, we chose to take a taxi to a great restaurant. Two amazing spots saved as Points of Interest (POIs) are Rick’s Café and La Sqala - both highly recommended!
If time allows, consider exploring more of Casablanca’s attractions, including the Old Medina, Mahkama du Pacha, and Mosquée Al Mohammadi, all saved as POIs.
