The route takes you from Casablanca to Marrakech, covering about 242 km. Leaving Casablanca behind, you’ll notice the urban and coastal views gradually giving way to a more arid, desert-like landscape as you head inland. The rising temperatures are a reminder of Marrakech’s warm, vibrant atmosphere awaiting your arrival.
The goal for this day is to reach Marrakech early, allowing plenty of time to explore the city in the afternoon. Once there, the pace shifts from Casablanca's chaotic traffic to a bustling flow of scooters and bicycles typical of Marrakech.
To fully enjoy the city, it’s recommended to leave your motorcycle at the hotel and take a taxi to the Medina. This way, you can explore the Souk Market, wander through narrow streets, and take in the vibrant sights and sounds without the hassle of helmets or jackets -especially under the intense heat.
While the main tourist attractions (like El Badi Palace, Medersa Ben Youssef, and more) aren’t part of the route, they are saved as key POIs for easy reference. The freedom to walk around and soak up Marrakech’s rich culture is part of the adventure.
I rated this route a 4 out of 5. Although the road itself doesn’t offer major challenges, the transition from coastal and urban scenery to desert landscapes is beautiful, making for a pleasant and enjoyable ride. Additionally, the tourist attractions in Marrakech are incredible, and exploring the city is an unforgettable experience that should not be missed.

On the way to Marrakech
Leaving the modern hustle of Casablanca behind, the journey towards Marrakech begins with a smooth ride through the changing landscapes of Morocco. The route covers around 242 km, and offers a fascinating transformation from coastal views to an arid, almost desert-like terrain. The transition provides an interesting perspective on the country's geography and sets the tone for the vibrant contrast awaiting in Marrakech.
The ride itself is straightforward, with wide highways that are easy to navigate, but the real beauty lies in the scenery along the way. As you move further inland, the temperature begins to rise, and the landscape slowly becomes more sparse and rugged, showcasing the natural charm of Morocco’s interior. While the road doesn’t present any major challenges, the shift from urban Casablanca to the more tranquil, arid surroundings is striking.
Marrakech is a city full of energy and history, and arriving there feels like stepping into a completely different world. The hectic traffic of Casablanca gives way to a unique rhythm of scooters, bikes, and pedestrians, all moving with a sort of chaotic harmony that is typical of the city. The vibrant atmosphere of Marrakech is palpable as soon as you enter, with its iconic red buildings and bustling streets.
Our hotel in Marrakech was a perfect match for the city’s vibe. Located right in the heart of the city, it offered an authentic local experience that allowed us to live between the locals. While it was simple, with no luxury amenities, the location was unbeatable. We were right in the center, able to observe daily life unfolding just outside the door. The hotel’s traditional decor and comfortable beds created a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The staff were extremely helpful, directing us to nearby private parking since the hotel didn’t offer on-site parking. This simplicity didn’t detract from the experience; on the contrary, it made the stay feel more genuine and intimate.
Arriving early in Marrakech provided the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the city’s heart, the Medina. Once you’ve checked into your hotel, I highly recommend leaving the motorcycle behind and hopping into a taxi to explore the Souk Market, with narrow alleyways, and rich history all come together to create a memorable exploration of Moroccan culture.
Places like El Badi Palace and the Medersa Ben Youssef are close by for anyone who wants to dive deeper into the city's storied past. Marrakech’s history, lively atmosphere, and cultural richness provide plenty to enjoy even if you’re just wandering around the streets.
This part of the journey offers a pleasant, scenic ride to Marrakech, but it is the destination itself that truly elevates the experience. The city’s energy, culture, and sights make it a perfect stop, offering endless opportunities to explore and learn about Moroccan life. And staying in a hotel that immerses you in that very life only adds to the adventure.
