Drautal Dreilaendertour mit Special Manghenpass
Mangart vorbei RP 28
The sixth tour in a series of 12 most beautiful routes motorcycle country Carinthia.

The tour falls under the category "easy" (Austria uses "easy, medium and heavy") with wide winding roads BUT experienced motorcyclists can enjoy the beautiful Mangartpass after the route point 28, then the route is cataloged by the motorcycle country Carinthia "heavy". 5 * tour

On the way to Loiblpass (1367 m), the border pass between Carinthia and Slovenia, we first pass a memorial to the victims of the forced labor camp Loibl Süd, which existed from 1943 to 1945. The detainees in the camp had to do forced labor on the construction site of the Loibeltunnel. "(RP 7)
Today, the location of the concentration camp, the only one in Slovenian territory, is characterized by an impressive sculpture. The monument has the shape of a skeleton with a heart and raises its arms to the sky, accompanied by the inscription on the pedestal: j'accuse (I complain). On the other side of the street, the foundations of a large part of the camp are preserved, and signs indicate the exact location of the complex and the function of the buildings. In the basement of the nearby Koren restaurant (RP 8) there is a memorial room with an exhibition consisting of the personal belongings of the prisoners, the tools used and photographs of the camp and its prisoners. The whole place is a monumental place, and we recommend visiting this historically important place.

After Tržič past Lake Bled, at the foot of the Julian Alps, to Bohinjska Bistrica. A detour to Bohinjska Lake is recommended RP 17. Again via Bohinjska Bistrica the route leads over Podbrdo to Tolmin. The way home is through Bovec on the Soča River (RP 23). The Soča is due to its crystal-clear water, the white rocks with many gorges and gorges a well-known wild water sports wild water river.

The "easy" version of the route leads to Predil Pass and Lago Predil RP 29 but more experienced motorcyclists without fear of heights enjoy the beautiful Mangart Pass, past RP 28 to the right.
Via the Passo del Predil the route leads to Italy. At the RP 31 we are already in Austria and we finish our route at Lake Leoanharder.

About this region
Friuli Venezia Giulia (pronounced [friˈuːli veˈnɛttsja ˈdʒuːlja]) is one of the 20 regions of Italy, and one of five autonomous regions with special statute. The regional capital is Trieste. The name used to be hyphenated as Friuli-Venezia Giulia until 2001. The region is called Friûl Vignesie Julie in Friulian, Furlanija Julijska krajina in Slovene and Friaul Julisch Venetien in German, three languages spoken in the region. The city of Venice ("Venezia") is not in this region, despite the name. Friuli Venezia Giulia has an area of 7,924 km2 and about 1.2 million inhabitants. A natural opening to the sea for many Central European countries, the region is traversed by the major transport routes between the east and west of southern Europe. It encompasses the historical-geographical region of Friuli and a small portion of the historical region of Venezia Giulia – also known in English as the Julian March – each with its own distinct history, traditions and identity.
