This 3-star route combines historic fortified towns, rural dikes, and charming Brabant villages. The roads are largely quiet and winding enough for enjoyable driving, while the sights—from Bergen op Zoom to the Basilica of Oudenbosch—enrich the experience.
As the name suggests, a tour along the Seven Lordships of North Brabant.
This is the 38th in a series of 43 Endangered ANWB routes. These were published in Promotors between April 2015 and September 2016.

The name of this route has both a cultural and historical background. On the one hand, the term "lordship" symbolizes a Burgundian conviviality, while on the other, in the Middle Ages, it meant an area belonging to a lord. The Lordship of Bergen op Zoom included (parts of) all seven municipalities along the route. Each municipality offers a variety of "lordships." Not only will you pass beautiful (old) villages and towns, but you can also enjoy the diverse natural beauty.
From Het Friethuys, you'll head through the narrow streets of Willemstad into the polder. Via Heijningen and Steenbergen, you'll reach Bergen op Zoom, where medieval city gates and the Prison Gate will transport you back in time.
After a short passage through the Brabantse Wal, you reach Ossendrecht, where Grenshotel De Jonckheer offers an ideal break. Here begins the more undulating section of the route, with Huijbergen and the striking border marker as silent witnesses to the past. Via Roosendaal, you arrive in Rucphen and Bosschenhoofd, towns with their own unique character and stories. Next comes Oudenbosch, where the impressive Basilica appears almost out of nowhere. After a photo stop at this monument, you head along quiet village roads to Stampersgat, where Via Ponte offers a delicious conclusion.
This route is a well-balanced ride for motorcyclists who appreciate history, variety, and relaxed riding. You'll ride on well-maintained roads with plenty of opportunities to dismount and enjoy the scenery. A day trip that showcases North Brabant's rich heritage and atmosphere.
