rondrit Moere Blaringhem x Doeverentreffen 2017 kort
Landelijke wegen...
The motorcyclists on the Flemish Coast are always happy with a ride from the Doeverentreffen. There are not many possibilities on our coast, you can not drive in the sea. So we are always looking forward to this annual event with a short and long drive along the quiet Flemish and "French-Flemish" roads, in the direction of northern France.
This is the short route of 2017, 195 km. The route got me 3 and half stars, here on our side this is a nice route, not comparable with the other side of our country, but we do it with what we have here.
Below also the link of the long drive.

When we are already a lot on our return, we can visit RP 25 the "Bayernwald Trenches".
This unique German site is located between the villages Wijtschate and Voormezele near Ypres. Bayernwald is the German answer to alleged nearby tunneling efforts by the British. Bayernwald is a lifelike reconstruction with 300 meters of trenches. four bunkers and two mine shafts (40 meters deep and each nearly 300 meters long). It is accessible via a footpath that runs through the recovered network of trenches. A series of information panels with details about the events. The unique thing about Bayernwald is that it tells the history of the Battle of Wijtschate-Messines Ridge from a German perspective.

About this region
West Flanders (Dutch: West-Vlaanderen [ˌʋɛst ˈflaːndərə(n)] (listen); West Flemish: West Vloandern; French: (Province de) Flandre-Occidentale; German: Westflandern) is the westernmost province of the Flemish Region, in Belgium. It is the only coastal Belgian province, facing the North Sea to the north. It has land borders with the Netherlands to the northeast, the Flemish province of East Flanders to the east, the Walloon province of Hainaut in the southeast and France to the west. Its capital is Bruges (Brugge). Other important cities are Kortrijk in the south and Ostend on the coast, Roeselare and Ypres (Ieper). The province has an area of 3,125 km2 which is divided into eight administrative districts (arrondissementen) containing 64 municipalities. The North Sea coast of Belgium, an important tourism destination, lies in West Flanders. A tram line runs the length of the coast, from De Panne on the French border to Knokke-Heist on the Dutch border.
