Route Summary
In 2013 we booked a weekend with a group at Motorcamping Berkenhof in Wielen Germany, just across the border from Hardenberg. Nice biker camping where the team makes sure you don't want for anything. Food and drinks are included.

One of the routes we drove that weekend is this one. You drive over beautiful winding dike roads, through national parks and past beautiful villages and towns, where there is ample opportunity to stretch your legs and have something to eat or drink.

There is also a stop at the American Motorcycle Museum. I rate this route with 4 stars.

RouteXpert Review
After the extensive breakfast at Motorcamping de Berkenhof in Wielen you drive via Vroomshoop and Giethmen to Raalte, where you can visit the American Motorcycle Museum, this is very worthwhile even if you have nothing to do with Harley, Indian and other stuff from the USA. The unique collection of American motorcycles of Max and Ans Middelbosch, under the name American Motorcycle Museum (AMM), opened its doors on April 30, 2004 in Raalte in Salland. The exhibited collection offers an extensive overview of American motorcycle history from the early 1900s to the 1980s and houses beautiful rarities. Next door is restaurant Tivoli, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee.

From Raalte you drive to Ommen, where you can have a nice lunch at Motorstop Café Calluna, located in the beautiful Vechtdal, is a popular place among motorcyclists. Here everything revolves around good music, food, drinks and pure conviviality. You can plan a complete motorcycle weekend here or make a quick pit stop and have a bite to eat, you are always welcome here!

From Ommen you drive via Dalfsen and Heino to Zwolle, a Hanseatic city, with a lot of history where you can plan a stop in the beautiful center with many restaurants, bars and shops. In Zwolle you cross the IJssel to Hattem. From Hattem it is a 27 kilometer long series of wonderfully winding dikes along the river IJssel. In the weekend it can be very busy with cars, motorcycles and cyclists, take this into account and watch your speed (60 km/h) because there are often checks in the weekend. You can plan a short break at Eet Tapperij Bijsterbosch.

Via Teuge, Bussloo, de Wilp and Zutphen you will drive a beautiful ride over winding provincial roads to the Sallandse Heuvelrug nature reserve (note that this area is closed between sunset and sunrise) where you can plan a short stop for something to eat or drink. The is a beautiful ride through a nature park with beautiful heathland and beautiful views, along the route there are several viewpoints.

Via Vriezenveen and a bit through Germany you drive back to the campsite where you can join an extensive BBQ from 7:00 PM and enjoy this beautiful ride.
