The route takes you further along the beautiful Vecht valley, where the river constantly accompanies you with a view of its green banks. After Dalfsen you drive towards Engbertsdijkvenen, a large nature reserve with vast peat bogs, heathlands and forests. This is a place to relax and enjoy the silence. Keep your eyes open for the many birds and perhaps even a herd of Scottish Highlanders.
A quiet country road winds its way to Mariënberg, a small village with a rich history. Not far from here lies Hardenberg, where you can drive through the historic centre and perhaps stop for a cup of coffee. The narrow streets, old buildings and cosy atmosphere make this town worth exploring.
From Hardenberg we continue our way towards Kloosternaar, a lesser known but all the more beautiful place. Here you are treated to a mix of farmlands and forests, perfect for a relaxing ride. Then it is time to drive towards the Lemelenberg, where you can find the impressive monument park 1813, a tribute to the liberation of the Netherlands.
After the peace of nature, the route takes you to the lively Ootmarsum. This town is known for its artists and galleries, and is the perfect place for a cultural break. Stroll through the narrow streets, visit one of the many art galleries, or enjoy lunch on a cozy terrace. Don't forget to take a look at the Molen van Oude Hengel, a monumental windmill just outside the center.
You continue the route to Almelo, a city with a rich textile history, and although the industry has disappeared, the old factory buildings are reminiscent of this time. If you have more time, a visit to the Twents Textielmuseum is worthwhile.
After Almelo you will pass Bornebroek and IJpelo, two charming villages where you can still experience the peace of the countryside. Here you will once again be surrounded by the wide view of fields and meadows, with the Midden Regge in the distance, one of the most beautiful rivers in the region. This is a wonderful place to put the engine aside for a while and enjoy the peace.
As you continue, you will pass through Wierden, another charming village known for its green surroundings and rural atmosphere. The road winds its way towards the end point in Dalfsen. But before that, you will pass Lemele, which lies at the foot of the Lemelerberg. This hill offers a beautiful view of the surroundings and is the perfect place to end the ride. Here you can enjoy the view of the Overijssel landscapes and reflect on a great day full of adventure.
A must is to stop at Kasteel Rechteren, the only medieval castle in Overijssel that is still completely intact. The sight of this castle takes you back in time – perfect for a little break and a photo.
This motorcycle route through Overijssel is a combination of beautiful nature, historic villages and a rich cultural heritage. From the winding roads along the Vecht to the quiet country roads through the peat landscape, it is a route for those who really want to enjoy everything the province has to offer.
The route includes a number of places for a drink and a bite to eat for yourself and your motorbike, are you obliged to stop here? No, of course you can also determine your own stops.

The 10 most beautiful car and motorcycle routes in the Netherlands
These 10 routes in the Netherlands have been carefully selected, checked and made equal for TomTom, Garmin and MyRoute-app Navigation by a MyRoute-app RouteXpert. The 10 most beautiful motorcycle and car routes in the Netherlands are always a snapshot, and a personal opinion of the reviewer. This does not alter the fact that every lover of beautiful roads and interesting sights will enjoy these routes.
The ten routes are spread over 10 provinces, we only skipped Flevoland and South Holland. Interesting routes can also be found in the MyRoute app RouteXpert library, but we still want to stick to the 10 most beautiful and not the 12 most beautiful.
Enjoy the many fortresses and castles that are included in the routes, such as Fort Veldhuis in North Holland. But also take a look at the route southeast of Nijmegen and visit the impressive Canadian War Cemetery and Memorial. The route 'Overijssel in bird's eye view' includes the oldest house in the Netherlands and the route along the IJssel is probably the most beautiful piece of asphalt in the Netherlands.
This way there is something for everyone in this route collection. If you do not agree with these 10 routes, please send us an e-mail, indicate which route(s) should be removed and which route you would like to see instead. Maybe your route will be included in this collection of the 10 most beautiful routes in the Netherlands!
