A Motorbike Adventure Across Mallorca: From Mountains to Coast
The morning sun casts a golden glow over the Mediterranean as you leave the grounds of the Zoëtry Hotel. The smell of salty air and pine trees mingles with the promise of a beautiful day on the bike. You open the throttle and let the world disappear behind you as you set a course for Llucmajor.

The road winds its way through the peaceful countryside. In the distance the hills loom as you head towards Algaida. This charming village is known for its traditional windmills and artisan glassworks. The morning is still fresh, and you enjoy the sound of your engine echoing between the old stone houses.
After Algaida the landscape starts to change. The road climbs slowly as you drive to Orient, a hidden gem in the mountains of Mallorca. The bends become sharper and the road narrower, but each bend reveals a new breathtaking view over olive groves and green valleys.

In Bunyola it is time for a coffee stop. You park your bike in the village centre, where the narrow streets and old stone houses radiate a nostalgic charm. With a strong café solo and a piece of ensaimada – the typical Mallorcan pastry – you recharge yourself for the next part of the ride.

From Bunyola you continue to Sóller, one of the most beautiful towns in Mallorca. The route takes you through the Tramuntana mountains, and before reaching the town you stop at the Ses Barques Viewpoint.
From here, the valley of Sóller stretches out before you like a painting. You see the sea glistening in the distance, surrounded by green hills and endless rows of orange trees. You breathe in the fresh mountain air and enjoy the moment before starting your engine again and descending to the coast.

The ride to Pollença is a dream for every motorcyclist. The road winds along the rugged cliffs, with the azure blue sea always at your side. The wind plays with your jacket as you smoothly take the bends and ride deeper and deeper into the northern coast of Mallorca.

In Pollença, you sit down on a terrace for lunch. A plate of fresh paella de mariscos, a glass of chilled white wine, and the sound of rippling water in the background – it doesn’t get any better than this.

After lunch you leave the coast and head inland again. Via Sa Pobla and Can Picafort you drive on wide roads along open plains and citrus groves. The contrast between the mountains and the plains of the interior makes this route so special.
At Porto Cristo the sea comes into view again, and you immediately feel the fresh breeze. Here you make a stop at Cuevas dels Hams, one of the most impressive cave systems in Mallorca. You walk through the underground world full of bizarre stalactites and underground lakes.

“The Magic of Coves dels Hams”
Long ago, deep in the green hills of Mallorca, a cave lay hidden from the world: the Coves dels Hams. Locals told each other stories about the wondrous lights and strange sounds that rose from the depths of the cave. Some claimed they were the whispers of ancient sailors who had buried their treasures there. Others believed the caves were the gates to another world.
On a warm summer day, a young fisherman named Mateo decided to explore the cave. His grandfather had told him about the underground lakes and the mysterious hook-shaped stalactites that grew like claws from the ceiling. “If you listen carefully,” his grandfather had said, “you can hear the breath of the earth itself.”
With a lantern in his hand, Mateo descended into the cave. The play of light and shadow on the rock walls gave the illusion of dancing spirits. As he went deeper, he suddenly heard a soft singing. Amazed, he followed the sound and came to an underground lake, where the water sparkled like a starry sky.
In the middle of the lake floated a small boat, and in it sat a woman wrapped in a blue cloak. Her voice sounded clear and pure, like the song of the wind. "Who are you?" Mateo asked, with a mixture of awe and curiosity.
The woman smiled. "I am the Guardian of the Coves dels Hams. Centuries ago, this cave was a refuge for lost souls and hidden dreams. Only those with a pure heart can see its true beauty."
Mateo felt a deep peace come over him. The woman raised her hand, and suddenly the cave filled with a magical light. The walls seemed alive, and the water reflected images of ancient times – pirates hiding their treasures, Roman traders making their way through the island, and fishermen like himself hoping for a miracle.
As the glow slowly faded, Mateo found himself back at the cave’s entrance. The lantern in his hand had gone out, but a new light burned in his heart. From that day on, he told his own stories about the magic of Coves dels Hams, and how some places on earth are more than they seem – if you dare to listen to their secrets.
And so the legend of the Coves dels Hams lives on, hidden in the heart of Mallorca, waiting for the next explorer with an open heart and a curious mind.

A magical intermezzo during your motorcycle ride.
With the setting sun at your back, you follow the coastline towards Campos. The road is wide and quiet, and you enjoy the relaxing ride past small villages and fields full of almond trees.
In Capocorb you will make a last coffee stop. This historical area is known for its ancient Talaiotic ruins, remains of the prehistoric civilization of Mallorca. You will take a moment to stretch your legs and have a last espresso before starting the last kilometers.

When you reach the Zoëtry Hotel again, you feel the satisfaction of a perfect day on the bike. Mountains, coastal roads, hidden villages and breathtaking views – this ride had it all. As you take off your helmet and breathe in the warm evening air, you know one thing for sure: Mallorca is a paradise for bikers. And tomorrow? Tomorrow, perhaps, another adventure awaits.

A beautiful road to the sea.

About this region
Mallorca, or Majorca, is the largest island in the Balearic Islands, which are part of Spain, and the seventh largest island in the Mediterranean Sea.
The capital of the island, Palma, is also the capital of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands. The Balearic Islands have been an autonomous region of Spain since 1983. There are two small islands off the coast of Mallorca: Cabrera (southeast of Palma) and Dragonera (west of Palma). The anthem of Mallorca is "La Balanguera".
Like the other Balearic Islands of Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera, the island is an extremely popular holiday destination, particularly for tourists from the Netherlands, Germany and the United Kingdom. The international airport, Palma de Mallorca Airport, is one of the busiest in Spain; it was used by 28 million passengers in 2017, with use increasing every year since 2012.

Exploring the magnificent roads of Mallorca
Mallorca is one of the most popular sun destinations in Europe. The white sandy beaches with overhanging palm trees, immense limestone rocks and the crystal clear sea attract many sun worshipers every year. But a holiday in Mallorca has more to offer than sun, sea and beach: Beautiful sights and wonderful motorcycling on the many kilometers of beautifully landscaped roads! Moreover, it is only a 2.5-hour flight from the Netherlands and there is no time difference!

These four routes give you an impression of how beautiful Mallorca is. You will explore the Serra de Tramuntana in all its beauty and tranquility with its many beautiful views. There are plenty of great restaurants along the way where you can enjoy a well-deserved break on the terrace.

These four routes are great for a long weekend or midweek break, great for a few days away. There are several providers where you can rent a motorcycle, you can even explore Mallorca on a Royal Enfiel Himalayan, how fun is that?

A few sights are discussed per route in the review. These often tell something about the history of the area in which you play. Fun facts, okay. You are completely free to visit these sights, you can of course also choose your own points of interest.
But it is a great thing that you probably traveled to this area for, the great driving and the beautiful weather. And as mentioned above, you are in a true motorcycle paradise where steering is fantastic!
