This route is part of a 7-day journey through Scotland.
In July 2016 I made this trip together with 5 motorcycle friends. The Scottish highlands are very beautiful. You can enjoy the beautiful views and hilly landscapes.
The routes are about 200 km long and along the way you have plenty of opportunities to stop a few times and visit special places. Think for example of the Falkirk Wheel and the Two Kelpies. It is definitely worth a visit. The route can be rated with 5 stars, because of its beautiful surroundings and sights.

Two Kelpies
The roads are good and the views are outstanding! Today's route goes to Carnwatch.
Carnwatch is a moorland village on the southern edge of the Pentland Hills in South Lanarkshire. The village is about 30 miles south of both Edinburgh and Glasgow. It is bordered by the North Medwyn and South Medwyn watercourses.
You can once again enjoy the easily accessible roads, beautiful views and the mountainous area. The nature is very beautiful, Scotland is in my opinion an excellent motorcycle country.
You leave in a northerly direction where you will follow the A83, a beautiful road through the landscape with many faces and beautiful nature.
After about 1.5 hours of driving you have the opportunity to drink a cup of coffee at The Golden Larches. You can park well here and keep an overview of the motorcycles.
After coffee it's nice to drive again and after about an hour and a half we arrive at the town of Falkirk. It's definitely worth checking out the *Falkirk wheel. Of course there is also the possibility to have an extensive lunch here.
*The Falkirk Wheel is a revolving boat lift named after the nearby town of Falkirk in Central Scotland. The lift connects the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal, spanning a height of 35 metres. The boat lift was completed in 2002. The full realization of the project cost £84.5 million. Previously, these canals were connected using eleven locks that were dismantled in 1933. It is the only rotating boat lift in the world and is considered a unique work of art.
After this impressive spectacle you can continue the route to visit the next attraction after about 5 kilometers, The Two Kelpies.
The Kelpies are 30m high sculptures of horse heads, located between Falkirk and Grangemouth.
In Scotland they love legends, myths and sagas. For hundreds of years they have been passed on from generation to generation. Stories about elves, haunted castles, monsters in lakes and strange aquatic creatures.
Kelpie's Mythology:
Kelpies are water spirits that live near water and swamps. The stories about kelpies vary quite a bit. In one story, the kelpie is a friendly horse, on which people are allowed to take a ride. In the other story, the kelpie lures children to the water's edge to devour them. For centuries, these stories have been told to children to keep them away from the water. For parents a way to prevent children from drowning, for children a way not to be eaten by a kelpie.
After having taken a good look at this impressive work of art, it is time to continue the route in a southerly direction.
With a lot of variety of different types, well-passable roads, you can quickly let the kilometers disappear behind you.
Before you arrive at the overnight place you still have the opportunity to fill the tank for the next day.
Then it's only a short drive to The Robertson Arms Hotel where you can reminisce about an innovative day.
