RouteXpert Review
This is a route from MotoPlus. The first part of the route takes you through the oldest reclamation sites in the Netherlands, the Schermer and the Beemster. The landscape is characterized by stately, often monumental collapsed farmhouses, with the typical pyramid-shaped roofs, with solid yard plantation around it. You regularly drive over narrow dikes with a wide view of the old landscape on both sides. After about fifty kilometers the dunes of Egmond and Bergen come into view and in spring you can enjoy the splendor of the bulb fields.
The first MotoPlusPoint is in Schoorl. From the sunny terrace of Het Trefpunt you have a view of the climbing dune. You can enjoy an extensive lunch menu and the many passing motorcyclists. After Schoorl we cross the province of Noord-Holland and continue to Medemblik. There we cross the railway line of the steam train between Hoorn and Medemblik. In Wognum you come to the classic café De Stam, the second MotoPlusPoint. After Hoorn you will pass through the village Etersheim which has been declared the Land of Dik Trom.
The route continues along the IJsselmeer, along long dijkweggetjes you pass Edam and Monnickendam. These roads are not that busy, so you can enjoy the many twists. The route ends at a large filling station in Amsterdam-Noord. Fun fact: this petrol station was set up by the Kriterion Foundation that wants to encourage students to undertake independently. She offers students a well-paid job with which they can pay for their studies. The filling station is run by thirty students without a real boss.
