Your travel distance today is modest: with approximately 210 kilometers on gently sloping roads, you will make enough pace along the way to enjoy a nice drive and stop at a number of special places along the way.
The journey takes you over several modest mountain passes deeper into the forest areas of the Muránska Planina National Park, after which you cross over to the Low Tatras via the town of Brezno. In the Low Tatras you can drive into the dead end Demänovská valley to visit the dragon cave of the same name.
Back from the Demänovská valley, you do another tourist round around the lake of Liptovská Mara.
Finally you drive back into the high forests to find your overnight place for the day: Chata Magurka in the hamlet of the same name. From here you can take beautiful walks in the surrounding forest.
The route gets 3.5 stars. It is an excellent route to drive, but it gets a little less stars because the road surface is not always good and you have to take a through road a few times, because the National Parks offer few alternative roads. Fortunately, there are plenty of nice wooden mountain huts along the way to take a break and you can enjoy the beautiful nature along the route and also in the ice cave.

Riding along the Bešeňová reservoir
The morning starts with a short farewell to Palcmanská Maša, the lake where you stayed for the past 2 nights. You drive along the lake towards the main road. Before you enthusiastically start the route and immediately turn right at the T-junction, you can consider driving south briefly, towards Dobšiná. You can refuel here, so that you have enough petrol with you for the entire route. You will not soon encounter anything along the way.
Once back on the route, the first 30 kilometers will feel familiar to some: the tour (route 6) also passed over the mountain pass Besník and along the Chmarošský Viaduct. If you have not driven the 6th ride, you can drive up the unpaved path at the viaduct and admire the train viaduct up close. Built in the 1930s, it is 22 meters high and an impressive piece of engineering to admire.
After this viaduct, the route branches off to the south, where you drive deeper into the Muránska Planina National Park. This national park is one of the youngest in Slovakia: it has been classified as a National Park since 1997, so that an enormous diversity of flora and fauna can be better protected. The park is part of the Carpathians. Thanks to the karst rock, you can see a variety of diverse landscapes, such as carts, gorges, dolines and a huge amount of caves. Unfortunately, due to the sound of the engines, you will not see much native wildlife. The park is known for being home to the brown bear, wolf, lynx, wildcat and various eagles.
After about 75 minutes of driving, you can stop on the edge of the park at Salaš Zbojská. The mountain hut is slightly set back from the road (on the right), but is easily accessible. You can park nearby and enjoy the view over the meadows, forests and hills from the terrace. If it's cold outside, you can warm up inside by the fireplace. No doubt you will also notice a wooden tower in the meadow on the other side of the road. If you fancy a little walk, you can hike here and climb the Zbojská lookout tower.
Finally, you will leave the tranquility of nature in the National Park and pass the bustle of the picturesque town of Brezno. The center of the 13th century town has largely remained intact, creating a special atmosphere. If you feel like it, you can deviate briefly from the route and wander and wander around here.
Wonderfully cruising you climb up again. Entering the National Park of the Low Tatras you arrive – as contradictory as this may sound – at the top of the highest (tarmac) mountain pass in Slovakia: the Čerovica with a height of 1,232 meters. People who did the tour yesterday may recognize this place because they have paused here.
The road winds gently to the north. The forests are occasionally interrupted by small ski areas or a glimpse of the mountains of the High Tatras. After 40 pleasant kilometers you turn onto the busy main road towards the town of Liptovský Mikuláš (don't forget to refuel here as this is the last possibility before the end of the route). Here the route turns south to the Demänovská valley, where you can visit the ice caves. You will walk a route of 650 meters through the icy cold caves in about 45 minutes. The temperature inside is just above 0 degrees, so it is not a problem to walk around in your motorcycle clothing for once. The ice in the caves is present all year round, due to the constant supply of fresh water from the underground course of the Demänovka River. Fun fact: In the past, animal bones have been found in the caves. The locals were convinced that these must be dragon bones. Hence the nickname "the Dragon Caves".
After the tour you can also cool off with a snack and a cooling drink at the Riverside restaurant, near the caves. If you prefer to take a break along the Liptovská Mara Lake (a little further on the route), you can continue to Dom na streche (past the town of Liptovský Mikuláš). Dom na streche literally means the house on the roof. It was built to express frustration with bureaucracy. Today it is mainly a popular attraction. You can visit the house (for a small entrance fee). Fortunately, you don't have to pay entrance to drink a refreshing drink on the terrace next to the building.
With the end of the route in sight, there are still a few small photo stops planned along the route. Earlier in the day you have probably already seen the snowy peaks of the High Tatras a few times. Have you managed to take a nice picture of this yet? Now is your chance. The route goes through the village of Bobrovník to the church of Saint Mary. Here you can park your motorcycle (if you want) out of sight and walk a bit towards the dam. From there you can take beautiful pictures with the church and the reservoir in the foreground, and the High Tatras in the background.
Have you not had enough of beautiful photos? Then you can also take pictures of the Bešeňová reservoir on the other side of the dam. The route leads you over a narrow road along this lake. If you briefly walk up the hill yourself, you can take beautiful pictures of your passing fellow motorcyclists from here with the lake and the Low Tatras in the background.
The Low Tatras come to the fore again in the last part of the route. You drive south again to enter the Low Tatras National Park. Do you remember leaving Paradise this morning? Trust me, the Low Tatras are known as the most beautiful national park in Slovakia. And tonight you will spend the night in the heart of the park. You follow the main road into the woods. After about 10 – 15 kilometers you turn into a small road that seems to lead to nothing. Finally, you will arrive at the small settlement of Magurka, at an altitude of 1,050 meters. The hamlet consists of wooden log houses along 1 single street and is located in the picturesque surroundings of the Ľupčianska Valley (Ľupčianska dolina). Once the village was founded in the 14th century to accommodate gold miners from the growing mining industry. Ultimately, the hamlet took an extremely important position in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, due to the enormous mining of gold: up to 25 kg annually. In a museum in Budapest and the art history museum in Vienna you can admire unique pieces of gold from the local mines. In Budapest, for example, a lump of pure gold of 8 kg!
Also, after your arrival and a delicious drink, take a moment to walk to the chapel a little back in the village. In this chapel you will find a special "rattle". This musical instrument was used to announce the start of the working day in the morning and to call all miners back from the mountain in the evening.
