Route Summary
The 6th and last stage takes you a short distance through the Black Forest. Then it's France's turn and then, for the last part of the tour, you head into the Pfalz, Hunsrück, Mosel and Eifel.

Normally the route would get 5 stars, but because of the "connections" in France and along Kaiserslautern, the route gets 4 stars.

Start: Landgasthof Anker in Simmersfeld
End: Hotel am Ceresplatz in Manderscheid

RouteXpert Review
Again the 6th and last stage of this series. This ride takes you through very different areas.
After you have paid properly, you first set off in the Black Forest, to get the last curls off your tires. Of course I look for the roads with as many bends as possible, so have fun!
You wind through quite a bit until you reach a completely different type of landscape. You are approaching the banks of the Rhine. Wow, you haven't seen a piece of land that flat in the last few days. This scenery is what you get for the most part driving through France. Here you still have the opportunity to visit a museum of the old Maginot Line.

Once in Germany, the picture changes again to forests and hills: you are in the Pfälzerwald. When you're well and truly on your way, you merge onto a terribly beautiful road. I usually give the advice to stay off the Bundesstraßen, for the B48 I make an exception. What is only a pity is that significant speed-saving measures have been taken here. But that does not make the road and the surroundings any less beautiful. You follow this all the way to Bikertreff Nicklas at Johanniskreuz. Please note that there are 2 Bikertreffs. If you are coming from the south, skip the first one and continue for a few hundred meters.

After the break you drive past Kaiserslautern. There is no scenic road that goes past it. The route goes through this headache file as quickly as possible. With Kasierslautern on the east side and the US airbase Ramstein on the west side. No, no music is made, except from fighter jets.
After this you can refuel and have your lunch.

After lunch the road image changes again. You can tumble from the Pfälzerwald into the Hunsrück. The Hunsrück is characterized by long sweeping bends until you get close to the Moselle. Because then you still have to cross that hump that runs just before the river. A circuit has been invented for this. This runs from Altstrimmig to Bruttig-Frankel. Already known to many. It's a beautiful drive there.
You cross the river and at Cochem you can have a snack again. For this you can use the large parking lot or the slightly smaller one right on the water.

After the break it is another hour to the last hotel. You do this by leaving some rubber behind in the Eifel.
You turn onto the grounds at hotel Am Ceresplatz and with the drink you just ordered in your hand you think about what you have seen and experienced in recent days: Westerwald, Sauerland, Harz, Thüringerwald, Fränkische Schweiz, Algäu, Secretly the Swiss Alps. Black Forest, Pfälzerwald, Hunsrück, Moselle and Eifel.

Poohpooh… MRA, where can I book my next trip?

About this region
Grand Est (French: [ɡʁɑ̃t‿ɛst] (listen); Alsatian: Grossa Oschta; Moselle Franconian/Luxembourgish: Grouss Osten;
Rhine Franconian: Groß Oschte; German: Großer Osten [ˈɡʁoːsɐ ˈʔɔstn̩]; English: "Greater East") is an administrative region in Northeastern France. It superseded three former administrative regions, Alsace, Champagne-Ardenne and Lorraine, on 1 January 2016 under the provisional name of Alsace-Champagne-Ardenne-Lorraine (pronounced [alzas ʃɑ̃paɲ aʁdɛn lɔʁɛn]; ACAL or, less commonly, ALCA), as a result of territorial reform which had been passed by the French Parliament in 2014.The region sits astride three water basins (Seine, Meuse and Rhine), spanning an area of 57,433 km2 (22,175 sq mi), the fifth largest in France; it includes two mountain ranges (Vosges and Ardennes). It shares borders with Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and Switzerland. As of 2017, it had a population of 5,549,586 inhabitants. The prefecture and largest city, by far, is Strasbourg.
The East of France has a rich and diverse culture, being situated at a crossroads between the Latin and Germanic worlds. This history is reflected in the variety of languages spoken there (Alsatian, Champenois, and Lorraine Franconian). Most of today's Grand Est region was considered "Eastern" as early as the 8th century, when it constituted the southern part of the Francian territory of Austrasia. The city of Reims (in Champagne), where Frankish king Clovis I had been baptized in 496 AD, would later play a prominent ceremonial role in French monarchical history as the traditional site of the coronation of the kings of France. The Champagne fairs played a significant role in the economy of medieval Europe as well. Alsace and Lorraine thrived in the sphere of influence of the Holy Roman Empire for most of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, and subject to competing claims by France and German over the centuries.
The region has distinctive traditions such as the celebration of Saint Nicholas Day, Christmas markets, or traditions involving the Easter hare in Alsace and Lorraine. Alsace-Moselle are furthermore subject to local law for historical reasons. With a long industrial history and strong agriculture and tourism (arts, gastronomy, sightseeing), the East of France is one of the top economic producing regions in the country.

25 Magnificent trails in France
This MRA route collection contains 25 beautiful motorcycle routes in different parts of France, such as the Ardennes, the Alsace, Vercors, the Drôme, the Ardèche, Cote d'Azure, Gorges du Verdon, the Ariège, the Dordogne and Brittany.

The routes have been carefully created by Bert Loorbach, who is an enthusiastic motorcyclist himself. He lived in France for a year and a half, during which time he devoted himself to mapping the unknown and beautiful back roads of France especially for motorcyclists.

The routes are bundled in the Motortourgids France part 1 of Kosmos publishing house and now also available in MyRouteApp.

I have taken over the routes in MRA and sometimes adjusted them slightly to make them even more interesting for the motorcyclist.
