On day 9, we leave Spain and head to Bragança, Portugal. You'll drive through two beautiful nature parks, where you can enjoy stunning panoramas, scenery, and winding roads along the way.
The Sierra de la Culebra, a 95-kilometer-long, regular mountain range of medium height, forms a natural border with the Portuguese region of Tras os Montes to the west. The slopes are forested and occasionally ravaged by forest fires. The peaks of the range are often snow-capped in winter and feature unusual-looking, rocky quartzite outcrops.
A nice town to visit is Puebla de Sanabria, you can visit the castle “Castillo de los Condes de Benavente” and explore the town with a walk and maybe lunch in one of the cafes or restaurants
As we cross the border into Portugal, we enter Montesinho National Park. This park is located in the northwestern region of Portugal, near Bragança, and is a beautiful nature reserve with several small towns such as Franca, Meixedo, Carragosa, and Vinhais. These require a slight detour, but they are certainly lovely towns perfect for a stroll. Hiking is also possible.
Located in northwestern Portugal, in the Trás-os-Montes region, the park is one of the largest natural parks in Portugal. The slate and granite mountains form deep valleys, and the clear river waters flowing through them provide the perfect habitat for a wide variety of plants and animals.
The last part of the ride takes us along a beautiful road with many bends and stunning panoramas to the finish in Braganca.
