RouteXpert Review Paul Junior Designs opens at 10:00 and is only 45 minutes from the start of the route. Orange County Choppers open their doors at 11:00 and they're a further 15 minutes along the road. It would seem wrong not to visit these TV famous and dare I say iconic bike builders.
After leaving OCC, you will join the Hudson River and follow it's path all the way into the city. Fort Montgomery State Park is worthy of a quick photo stop of the Purple Heart Memorial Bridge over the Hudson River. Fort Montgomery was the scene of a fierce Revolutionary War battle for control of the Hudson River. Visitors today can tour the remains of the 14-acre fortification, perched on a cliff overlooking the magnificent Hudson.
The next bridge is the 3.1-mile-long twin-span Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge that replaces the Tappan Zee Bridge crossing over the Hudson, located fewer than 20 miles north of New York City. The $3.98 billion project is one of the largest-ever transportation design-build contracts in the United States and the largest bridge project in New York's history. You'll have a fleeting glimpse at RP 11 and a couple more through the trees as you pass by.
The city's skyscrapers come into view as you get closer and closer. RP 16 in New Jersey takes you into the Liberty State Park, here you'll have the best view of the Manhattan skyline and a chance to view the moving memorial called 'Empty Sky'.
Empty Sky is the official State of New Jersey's Memorial that honors the memory of the 749 people that lived in or had ties to New Jersey that lost their lives at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
The names are placed randomly on the twin brushed stainless steel walls. Individuals' names (4 inches tall) are within reach and engraved deep enough for hand rubbing. The memorial, designed by Jessica Jamroz and Frederic Schwartz, was dedicated on September 11, 2011, the 10-year anniversary.
The brushed stainless steel twin walls are 210 feet long, the width of each side of the World Trade Center Towers. They rise 30 feet, standing parallel to each other with a 12-foot wide paved path of bluestone between them. Like the World Trade Center, the stainless steel reflects the constantly changing light of day. The memorial invites visitors to literally and metaphorically look toward the empty sky in memory and look forward as a community.
A short drive along Freedom Way in Liberty State Park takes you to the memorial 'Liberation' that commemorates the Holocaust and the the role of the United States in preserving freedom and rescuing the oppressed. The memorial depicts an American soldier carrying a Jewish concentration camp survivor. You can also see the Statue of Liberty with the skyscrapers acting as a backdrop.
From here it's just a short ride over the Bayonne Bridge and onto Staten Island to hand back what I hope has become an old friend. If you have completed the entire tour, you will have travelled at least 1800 miles (2900 km).

I have suggested 2 nights at Lake Superior and 2 nights at Niagara Falls, making this a 10 day tour, but of course, that is up to you. Ultimate USA road trip part 06
Michel van Hagen challenged me to follow the Roadtrip of Dr. Randy Olsen as a basis to create the Ultimate USA Road Trip for the MyRoute app RouteXpert Library. I took up that challenge and started in February 2022.
The scientist Dr. Randy Olsen, who became known for using his knowledge of algorithms to find 'Waldo' in the well-known American 'Where's Waldo' book series, has been challenged by Tracy Staedter, from Discovery News, to use the same algorithm to create the perfect Road Trip by creating the US, which will visit almost every state in the US. Alaska and Hawaii are not included in this Road Trip due to their geographical location.
The following three requirements formed the basis of the route: In all 48 countries there must be at least one stop at famous points, monuments, historical sites, national parks, etc. I have added additional interesting points, beautiful tours and routes.
After more than 26 months, the job is finished and, with a lot of support from Nick Carthew, I have created 129 routes that run through the 48 states of the USA and part of Canada. This is the sixth collection that takes you from Kill Devil Hills in ten days through North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island to Salem, Massachusetts.
