This route comes from the French Motorcycle Tour Guide Part 2 and the original name is "Approach Routes to the West; Route Description Part 2: from the Loire to the Dordogne".
In the French Motorcycle Tour Guide, Part 2, a distinction is made between approach routes and tours within a specific area. The approach routes can also be used in conjunction with the routes from the French Motorcycle Tour Guide, Part 1.
The routes have sometimes been slightly modified based on tips Bert Loorbach provides in his description, or because of a different overnight stay, or to meet the minimum 2-hour time limit for the MRA Library. Each route review includes a more detailed description, including overnight options and points of interest along the way, which are also indicated with a point of interest and, if possible, a short description.
I rate this route 3*** stars. The roads aren't particularly spectacular, but an approach route via D-roads is always better than the highway. And along the way, you'll pass some beautiful natural areas with green hills, small lakes, and a few charming, typically French towns and villages, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee, lunch, or other delicacies.

Pont du Notre-Dame, bridge across the River Vienne
This is the second of three access routes to western France. It can be used as a starting point for one of the other routes in this area, as described in the Motorcycle Tour Guides parts 1 and 2.
Enjoy a scenic drive through the countryside to the French west coast or towards Ile d'Oléron. It's a lovely drive around all the major cities, using only D-roads that are easy to get to. Ideal! This route from the Loire Valley is a wonderful outbound or return trip from one of France's most popular destinations: the Dordogne (see part 1).
The ride starts in Le Blanc, so you can combine the previous route in this series, the section from Jargeau to Le Blanc, with this one. Alternatively, you can add a ride straight through Brenne Park as an approach route to this ride.
The charming village of Le Blanc lies on the Creuse River. It seems to be the center of a spiderweb of roads that branch off in every direction. You have several options here, and for this trip, you should take the D975 south, which becomes the D675. Continue on this road until Saint-Junten, where you cross the Vienne River on a beautiful 13th-century bridge. Here, you can stop to take photos of the chapel and the bridge.
We continue through the beautiful green Périgord-Limousin National Park to Saint Mathieu, where we leave the department of the same name and enter the Dordogne. We continue on the D675 via Nontron to the end of this access route: Brantôme.
Brantôme is also known as the Venice of the Périgord. Situated on an island at the gateway to the Périgord-Limousin Natural Park, the charming town of Brantôme is one of the most beautiful towns in the Périgord Vert. Its large monastery, nestled on the banks of the Dronne River and protected by a high rock, makes it one of the most beautiful in the region. It's definitely worth a stop, even if you're passing through.
One of the main assets of the town of Brantôme is undoubtedly its natural setting: nestled in the gentle rolling hills of the Périgord Vert, Brantôme is nestled between two branches of the Dronne, protected by a cliff with its magnificent monastery.
It's serenely situated on the Dronne River and boasts several beautiful buildings, including a remarkable 16th-century bent bridge with uneven arches. There are pleasant terraces along the Dronne River, making it the perfect spot for lunch.
All in all, a beautiful place to begin a stay in the Dordogne. Many roads wind their way from Brantôme into the Dordogne, and you can enjoy scenic drives in the Périgord. In Brantôme, you can choose to continue on to another destination, or you can stay overnight. This small town has several hotels, and just outside the town are two campsites.
