The route is approximately 140 km long and will give you a nice impression of Gelderland and its forests, sights and nice roads. Especially on nice days you will be amazed by the beautiful landscape and the beautiful sights in it.

You drive north from the Stuurmanskolk and follow the banks of the IJssel for a while. The IJssel, also called Geldersche IJssel. This river is a branch of the Rhine and starts in the Netherlands near Westervoort. Ultimately, the IJssel flows via the Ketelmeer into the IJsselmeer.
After the pit stop for the motorcycles, you head towards Deventer via scenic roads. You reach this Hansen city just a short distance to make the first coffee stop after an hour's drive. Museum café de Kribbe has its doors open for delicious coffee and a delicious pastry.
After coffee you drive through the big city of Apeldoorn. You can easily avoid this busy city, which is also a beautiful place to visit. During the route you will also pass a famous bridge, De Scherpenbergerbrug. This bridge is located over the Apeldoorns canal. From 1868 to 1961, this canal served as a "lateral canal" parallel to the IJssel. At low and high river levels, the IJssel was very difficult to navigate due to insufficient sailing depth or strong current. The route via the canal was also very attractive, especially for small ships. In 1972 it was finally closed to shipping
If Apeldoorn has been visible in your mirrors for a while, you take the A1. For users of the Open Street Map (OSM), please note that the viaduct over the A1 is an impassable route for the OSM. While in reality there is no obstacle to driving over it. From route point After the A1, OSM will try to let you take a detour.
You drive through the State Domain west of Apeldoorn. The state domain is part of Kroondomein Het Loo and is approximately 3,000 hectares in size.
When you are in Hoog Soeren, it is time to stop at the lunch location Restaurant Berg en Dal. There is a break of an hour to provide the inner man with delicacies.
After lunch you drive towards the village of Uddel, after which you pass a Hunneschans on the Garderenseweg. A little later you will pass a number of castles, including Staverden Castle, which is definitely worth a photo opportunity. Waypoints will point you to these locations.
A little further it is time for an ice cream during the tour. The choice fell on IJssalon Op de Brink in Elspeet.
After Vierhouten and Vaassen you drive back towards the IJssel. The last part of the route runs along the IJsel again to end at the Stuurmanskolk.
Just before you arrive at the Stuurmanskolk, you will pass one of the 3 remaining LAACC bunkers and 2 remains of Sherman tanks. Photo stops are also planned there. LAACC: the Light Anti Aircraft Control Centre. This bunker, disguised as a barn, served as a command post during the Cold War. The large doors were merely intended as a disguise. This bunker housed the command center of the air defense of the IJssel Line. There is also a Sherman tank cast in concrete in the immediate vicinity of the LAACC.
If you stay overnight in one of the small but purposefully furnished log cabins, it is time for a cool beer after which you can enjoy a delicious dinner in the good restaurant of the Stuurmanskolk. An alcohol-free snack is of course also available for those who still have to drive home.
