Route Summary
This route takes you through the beautiful bulb fields of South Holland. So make sure you drive during the flowering season (March to May).

It is a nice route (also for beginners) on small roads where the speed will not be too high.

You come across the boulevard of Noordwijk and along the Keukenhof.

This route gets 4 stars from me because of:
The views (during the season) are beautiful with colorful bulb fields. The variety with sea views makes it complete.
The roads are easy to drive and because you drive a lot on narrow roads, it is fun and not too busy.
There is plenty to see and experience along the route, such as Noordwijk and Keukenhof.

RouteXpert Review
Just a tour around the bulb fields. This route is a nice round trip on the back roads of the bulb region and is best done between the end of March and the beginning of May, because then the bulbs are in bloom. It is also advisable to drive during the week or in the evening (summer time has just started), partly because there is less traffic and you can enjoy the route and the views in peace.

The route starts on the beach of Wassenaarseslag. You can start here with a cup of coffee at one of the beach bars. From here we go to Katwijk where we immediately drive into the bulb fields. The hyacinths are in bloom at the end of March and that is a splendor of colors and scents. Take your time to enjoy the view and stop here and there for photos of the blooming bulb fields.

We drive into the seaside resort of Noordwijk where you can stop on the boulevard for coffee or a delicious ice cream at Vivaldi's. After the break on the boulevard of Noordwijk, the route continues via the Langevelderslag (dead end). Here you drive between a beautiful dune landscape on a wonderful winding road. At the end is a lovely terrace where you can eat and drink well.

We drive past the village of Zilk and under the village of Vogelenzang the route turns south again. We approach Lisse, after which we drive past Keukenhof and its famous windmill. We drive over some dikes and along real Dutch scenes with waterways and colorful bulb fields to the end of the route.

The end point is in Sassenheim, at the van der Valk Hotel. You can take a short break here, after which you can immediately go home on the A44 or pick up a connecting route.
