Route Summary
Day 3 of the trip through southern Sweden. Today we cross the rest of Öland and continue north. On Öland you can still fully enjoy the views and (the view of the) sea. Then we go into the woods and we also drive some parts on gravel. Furthermore, the roads are all paved and excellent to drive.

RouteXpert Review
From the campsite you can easily reach the historic castle Eketorp (RP2). An impressive old castle from the 4th century on an otherwise flat island. Then we continue to the nice harbor town of Bläsinge (RP3). After a cup of coffee we go in one go to the northernmost point of the island. To begin with, there is a special forest there: Trollskogen (RP5). The trees are small and very crooked due to the strong wind. There is also a wooden shipwreck on the coast (Vraket Swiks). A nice walk. A little further on you can find the lighthouse Lange Erik (RP6), on a small peninsula. Byxelkrok (RP7) is a nice but touristy place where you can eat good fish in the harbor by the sea. A bit further on is Byrums raukar (RP8), a series of special rocks on the sea. Then follows a very nice coastal road. Enjoy the view of the sea. We drive to Borgholm (RP12), a nice town with a castle and the castle of the royal family of Sweden (Solliden). If you haven't eaten yet, you can do that here, for example at Stora Hamnkontoret or at Ebbas, sometimes with live music. We then leave the island of Öland over the steep bridge. If you have not visited Kalmar on the way there or you thought it was very worthwhile, you can now visit it again. We are now going a bit more inland. First a bit on a somewhat larger road via Bäckebo and Rugstorp. When you are done driving and ready for a night's rest, go to the Alsterbro camping site at RP13. If not, you drive over gravel to Aboda (RP15). There you have a beautiful view over the lake, you can swim and there is a lovely (and busy) restaurant. The overnight stay is planned in Berga near Gösjön camping (RP16).
I give this route 5 points. There is much to see along the route, the roads are good and very varied (over gravel along the sea and over gravel through the forest).
