RouteXpert Review
This tour around Lake Annecy starts in Doussard. This town is located on the south coast of the lake and is the ideal base for fantastic rides. Lake Annecy is located in Haute-Savoie and is known for its spectacular surroundings. On top of the Col de la Forclaz you have a breathtaking view over the lake and you can see Ruphy Castle in the distance on a peninsula. Parapenters and ultra-light kites fly right over you at this vantage point and you can enjoy a nice snack and a refreshing drink at various places. A little further along the route you will pass through the old center of the city of Annecy. Not spectacular when it comes to motorcycling, but because of the architecture it is definitely worth taking a look. Restaurants and bars abound so ideal for a break.
From Annecy we go up to the Col de Semnoz. The first part is meandering through a wooded area which sometimes reminds a bit of the German Eifel. But once you have reached the top, you will again be treated to a great view. From here you wind through old farming villages back towards the lake.
This route is ideal for driving in the summer in the morning or evening when the weather is warm.
