The seventh tour in a series of 12 most beautiful routes motorcycle country Carinthia.

The tour falls under the category "easy" (Austria uses "easy, medium and heavy") with simple roads. There are more city streets with more traffic, crossed by roads in beautiful nature so I give the tour 4 *

From Villach you cycle through the Gegendtal valley to Arriach, the geographical center of Carinthia. In Feldkirchen turn off towards Gurktal. Gurker Dom RP 6 is one of Carinthia's most important pilgrimage sites. The route continues to St. Veit. At Launsdorf you drive past the castle Hochosterwitz RP 11. In Mittertrixen, the route leads left via Haimburg to Diex (1159 m) RP 14, the place with the most hours of sunshine in Austria.
Now continue along the high road towards Brückl. Go north through the Görtschitztal and at Mösel turn left towards Althofen. A tip for a down-to-earth lunch is the Hirter Braukeller, which is located just before Friesach right on the main road RP 18. After the meal, it goes back briefly and you turn at Schloss Pöckstein RP 19 in the Gurktal and then into the Metnitztal. The Flattnitz (1400 m) on the plateau of the Gurktaler Alps is considered a transition from the Carinthian Gurktal to the Styrian Murtal. In good weather you can enjoy on the terrace of the inn Isopp from the peace and the beautiful view Flattnitz RP 24. At Stadl / Mur you drive 6 km upriver to Predlitz and from there you reach the sometimes very steep driveway to Turracher Höhe (1783 m) back to Carinthia. Do not forget to take a picture on RP 27 and enjoy the beautiful view of the Turracher Höhe.


** Turracher Höhe, ski area around a beautiful frozen lake. The ski resort Turracher Höhe is located on the border between Carinthia and Styria. The most striking thing about this area is the fact that it was built around a frozen mountain lake. Landscaping is therefore a beautiful area!
