ALONG DUTCH WATER

You will find Dutch water and meandering rivers in the Green Heart. The challenge was to cover the largest puddles in one day and still keep the number of kms limited. Vinkeveense, Nieuwkoopse and Loosdrechtse plassen in a tour of over 177 km.
The Vinkeveense (RP20-21), Nieuwkoopse (RP45-48) and Loosdrechtse plassen (RP61) are now important nature and tourist areas that were created from the Golden Age (1600 - 1672) through the extraction of peat (peat). on behalf of Amsterdam.

This tour goes through Weesp and over roads and dikes along rivers such as the Vecht, the Angstel, the Amstel, the Meije and the Kromme Mijdrecht known to motorcyclists. The end of the ride goes through the picturesque Lage Vuursche.

The twists and turns along the Vecht, the Meije and, for example, the Kromme Mijdrecht are well-known and popular routes for many motorcyclists, but also for cyclists. Driving along these rivers is enjoyment, but also demand respect for nature, residents and fellow road users.

This area is rich in Forts (45) that are part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam or the Dutch Waterline. Along the way you will pass several of these Forts such as Fort at Uitermeer (RP3), Torenfort Weesp (RP6), Fort at Abcoude (RP19), and Fort at Uithoorn (RP36). A full-day and varied route.

Weesp
Van Weesp is also said to be "The Amsterdam of the past" Weesp is an authentic fortified city with a rich history located in the shadow of Amsterdam. Due to the monumental buildings, canals and small shops you can see the influences of Amsterdam in this old fortified town, only it is a lot quieter. This used to be different, because from the 12th to the end of the 15th century Weesp was an important trading city. The river 'de Vecht' was an incredibly popular trade route for ships that wanted to sail inland. However, a civil war arose at the end of the 15th century that put an end to this prosperity. Despite the civil war, Weesp is characterized by breweries, porcelain objects and Van Houten's famous cocoa factory. Weesp is worth a visit!

Lage Vuursche
Lage Vuursche (RP68) is a small village in the municipality of Baarn with 280 inhabitants. Lage Vuursche has a protected village view with several eighteenth and nineteenth century houses and dozens of national monuments. The reformed Stulpkerk dates from 1650. For many walkers and day trippers, Lage Vuursche is not only known for its beautiful forests and estates, but also for the many establishments that specialize in pancakes.

This route was made in the Covid-19 era, so start and end are at a gas station with coffee and toilet facilities. In between, a few petrol stations are also visited for a short break and / or sanitary stop.

PAY ATTENTION!
It is better not to drive this route on weekends. The nuisance from motorcycles on the narrow roads is so great that several roads are closed to motorcycles at the weekend. Too bad, but it is no different.
