6-day round trip with wonderful Alpine roads from Switzerland through the Grisons and the Dolomites via Grossglockner and Zillertal Panorama Route
About this collection
From Switzerland through the Dolomites and the Austrian Alpine passes back to Switzerland. That means endless curves, wonderful mountain passes and famous mountains. At the same time, there are also some unknown and dreamy routes away from the heavy traffic on the program, so that all biker dreams really come true.
On the first day, three of the most beautiful Swiss Alpine passes await us: the Susten, Oberalp and Albula passes. But the lesser-known Norbertshöhe and the road up to Samnaun are also a real treat.
The second day of the tour starts with small, dreamy mountain roads down into the Inn Valley, before heading to Italy over the Timmelsjoch, where a visit to the rebuilt motorcycle museum is a must. We then head south over the Jaufenpass and the Penser Joch, where we take a detour westwards via side roads just before Bozen. Via Triers we enjoy the winding road up to the Niger Pass and join the Karerstrasse, where we visit and walk around the famous lake. This impressive tour ends in Welschnofen.
The third day is all about the most famous Dolomite passes: Karerpass, Sella and Gardena Pass, the Campolongo, Pordoi, Fedaja and Duran passes lead to the unique Passo di Giau. From there we go down to Cortina d'Ampezzo, which we pass and immediately cross the Passo tre Croci to get to the Rifugio Auronzo, directly below the Three Peaks with a unique view. We go past Auronzo di Cadore with the picturesque lake and the view of the Three Peaks to the hotel in Lozzo di Cadore.
On the fourth day, the route takes the author's favorite route: on little-known paths and narrow roads over the Sella Campigotto, Sella di Razzo, Sella di Rioda to Sauris di Sotto. And then over the Passo di Puro, Forcella di Priuso to the Passo di Rest and the very impressive Sella Chianzutan. The following side roads are also a challenge for the cyclist, but one that is worth it. Italian mountain landscapes and villages in their most original state. Over the Plöckenpass and the Gailbergsattel, the route takes you to Oberdrauburg, where the day's route ends.
The route to the tour highlight is already something special: the Iselsberg Pass and especially the little-known Panorama Route above Rojach offer unique views. Then it goes up to the Grossglockner High Alpine Road with the Kaiser Franz Joseph Heights, where another exciting vehicle museum invites you to visit. The Hochtor and especially the Edelweissspitze offer wonderful photo subjects with their panoramas. After the descent, the route goes past the Timmler Waterfalls to the Gerlos Pass and via Zell in the Zillertal to the Zillertal Panorama Road, also a unique winding route with a great view. It then becomes picturesque along the Walchensee, where the next overnight accommodation awaits.
On the last day, the route goes over the Kesselberg, Ettaler Sattel and Ammersattel to the Hohentannbergpass. There are some great photo stops along the way along lakes and in the middle of mountains. Via the Furkajochpass, the route goes down to Feldkirch and back to Switzerland, where the route via Wildhaus and Hemberg offers a wonderful view of the Säntis. Over the rather busy Rickenpass, the route goes up a dreamy, winding pass road to Sattelegg and then over the Ratenpass and the Gottschalkenberg on a narrow forest and meadow road back to Sihlbrugg and the starting point of Kappel am Albis.
On this tour you will travel through Switzerland, Austria, Italy and Germany. You will cross some of the most famous Alpine passes in the world. And at the same time you will travel through untouched landscapes on the smallest back roads with no traffic.
