RouteXpert Review Starting point today is Tulsa, Oklahoma the second largest city in the state .
Heading away from the city after visiting the “Center of the Universe” (WP2) test your voice with the strange acoustics surrounding the brick circle.
Staying off the main Express Way and Turnpike we follow the roads away from the downtown area.
A few things that become apparent very quickly as you are travelling in Oklahoma.
It is huge! Large areas of open space with unbroken skies.
And things are direct, many of the roads and tracks, even out on the country away from the cities are straight, dead straight.
Not really the natural domain of the motorcyclist but the history is all around that how can you not enjoy the area.
Crossing the Skiatook reservoir, it is in contrast with the wild open countryside around. But Oklahoma has more man-made lakes than any other state, with over one million surface acres of water.
Heading north to Pawhuska on the 99 the gently undulating road winds it’s way through very green scenery until you join the Osage Nation Heritage Trail and head towards Ponca City, passing over the Kaw Dam along the way (WP18).
Turning north in Alva you soon cross the State line leaving Oklahoma and enter Kansas, continuing north passing through small towns along the way until heading west on US Highway 54/400 until one final change of direction towards Dodge City.
Passing the Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Fort Dodge (WP33) you eventually arrive in Dodge City, road names like Wyatt Earp Boulevard and Commanche Road remind us of growing up watching Cowboys and Indian films.
Stopping at the Boot Hill Museum we can now feel we are in the Wild West where you can immerse yourself in all things cowboy before stopping for the night.
3 Star day turned into a 4 Star day once we became cowboys in Dodge City

About this region
Kansas is a state in the Midwestern United States. Its capital is Topeka and its largest city is Wichita. Kansas is bordered by Nebraska to the north; Missouri to the east; Oklahoma to the south; and Colorado to the west. Kansas is named after the Kansas River, which in turn was named after the Kansa Native Americans who lived along its banks. The tribe's name (natively kką:ze) is often said to mean "people of the (south) wind" although this was probably not the term's original meaning. For thousands of years, what is now Kansas was home to numerous and diverse Native American tribes. Tribes in the eastern part of the state generally lived in villages along the river valleys. Tribes in the western part of the state were semi-nomadic and hunted large herds of bison.
The first Euro-American settlement in Kansas occurred in 1827 at Fort Leavenworth. The pace of settlement accelerated in the 1850s, in the midst of political wars over the slavery debate. When it was officially opened to settlement by the U.S. government in 1854 with the Kansas–Nebraska Act, abolitionist Free-Staters from New England and pro-slavery settlers from neighboring Missouri rushed to the territory to determine whether Kansas would become a free state or a slave state. Thus, the area was a hotbed of violence and chaos in its early days as these forces collided, and was known as Bleeding Kansas. The abolitionists prevailed, and on January 29, 1861, Kansas entered the Union as a free state, hence the unofficial nickname "The Free State".
By 2015, Kansas was one of the most productive agricultural states, producing high yields of wheat, corn, sorghum, and soybeans. Kansas, which has an area of 82,278 square miles (213,100 square kilometers) is the 15th-largest state by area and is the 34th most-populous of the 50 states with a population of 2,940,865 according to the 2020 census. Residents of Kansas are called Kansans. Mount Sunflower is Kansas's highest point at 4,039 feet (1,231 meters).

Ultimate USA road trip part 03
Michel van Hagen challenged me to follow the Roadtrip of Dr. Randy Olsen as a basis to create the Ultimate USA Road Trip for the MyRoute app RouteXpert Library. I took up that challenge and started in February 2022.
The scientist Dr. Randy Olsen, who became known for using his knowledge of algorithms to find 'Waldo' in the well-known American 'Where's Waldo' book series, has been challenged by Tracy Staedter, from Discovery News, to use the same algorithm to create the perfect Road Trip by creating the US, which will visit almost every state in the US. Alaska and Hawaii are not included in this Road Trip due to their geographical location.
The following three requirements formed the basis of the route: In all 48 countries there must be at least one stop at famous points, monuments, historical sites, national parks, etc. I have added additional interesting points, beautiful tours and routes.
After more than 26 months, the job is finished and, with a lot of support from Nick Carthew, I have created 129 routes that run through the 48 states of the USA and part of Canada. This is the third collection that takes you from Lamar in ten days through Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico to Waco, Texas.
