RouteXpert Review
Get ready for an unforgettable tour through enchanting Poland and Czech Republic, with the breathtaking Krkonos Mountains as a highlight. This route starts in the picturesque town of Kapacz, where you will be welcomed by a beautiful environment full of surprises.

The first stop on this route is the unique Chata na Głowie an unusual attraction that can be found in Miłków, between Karpacz and Jelenia Góra. At first glance you see a house, but after a moment of observation you realize, yourself that the house is upside down. The view from the outside is already a real attraction, let alone the entrance inside.
Instead of standing on the floor, we stand on the roof.
This unique building lets you experience gravity in a playful way and is perfect for some humorous photos to start your day.
In Sosnowska you have a parking lot from where you have a beautiful view of Lake Sosnowska.
This water surface is also used for drinking water in the region.
From this parking lot you can also visit the nearby Kziecia Henryka Castle, but you will have to walk for about ten minutes to reach the Castle.
Then you travel further and cross the border into the Czech Republic and a few km further you arrive in Horrachov, where you can enjoy a visit to a microbrewery.
Here you will have the chance to see how the local beers are brewed and possibly buy them to taste later.
For true enthusiasts, there is even the option of taking a beer bath, which promises to be a unique experience.
Next to the brewery is the Glass Museum, where you can be enchanted by the art of glassblowing and learn about the fascinating history of this craft. This is definitely a must-see for art lovers and offers a great opportunity to learn more about this traditional technique.

Finally, the route takes you to the fashionable Spindleruv Mlyn, a tourist ski resort, where you have the opportunity to eat something in the abundant restaurants and a little further you can drive to a high plateau in the Krkonoš mountains, where you can enjoy the breathtaking nature and spectacular views. You can take a short walk there to fully immerse yourself in the beauty of the mountains.
Then you drive back down to pass through Spindleruv Mlyn again and turn off just before the town of Horejsi Vrchlabi to pass some mountain passes and small ski villages.
Now you continue the route slowly back towards Poland. Finally you can take a break at Mala Upa, just before you cross the border to Poland. On the Polish side, the first hairpin bends break open the trees, giving you finally, again, a beautiful view of the mountains around you. Unfortunately, there are no safe parking places here, so find a safe spot on the asphalt if you want to take a picture here.
We now drive back on the Polish side through the Giant Mountains deep down the mountain roads a bit towards the North. Just like nature, some towns in Poland are also beautiful. Kowary for example has such a beautiful city center, but also its own “Madurodam”. The town has a modest Miniature Park where you can view various Polish architectural styles. Because today is mainly a route to enjoy driving in nature, I have not created a stop for this in this route. The waypoint is available, so if you still want to visit the miniature park, the route passes right by it.
After Kowary you return to the town of Karpacz and our base Sudecki Hotel Spa-Resort.

Route Collections in this region
Tour Poland Slovakia and the Czech Republic
This collection of routes is based on a 3-week vacation that I rode with my partner in June 2018.

The journey goes through Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and a piece of Germany. In total there are 11 driving days, a combination of touristic tours and routes from A to B. All routes avoid the highway and go exclusively on the smaller roads, which makes it a beautiful and varied journey.

Along the way you regularly come across sights, where you can stop to look around. These vary from beautiful viewpoints, to museums and special buildings. You also visit various national nature parks along the way, such as the Tatra Mountains, the Giant Mountains, Eagle Mountains, Krkonoše and Bohemian Switzerland. Because the overnight places are often also located in these areas, you can alternate the driving days with days with wonderful hiking trips.

If you only want to ride a motorcycle, then this collection can also be done in 2 weeks (including a return trip from the Netherlands).

The routes themselves can be challenging from time to time, particularly because the quality of the road surface in Eastern Europe - especially on the small country roads - is not always good. In June 2018 all routes were on paved roads.
