Route Summary
The Black Forest (German: Schwarzwald) - the largest low mountain range in Germany - is a densely wooded area in southwest Germany, located in the state of Baden-Württemberg, on the Rhine and on the French border.

With an area of nearly 10,000 km2 and heights of up to 1500m, beautiful roads must be constructed. And it is! This route covers part of it.

From Schonach im Schwarzwald on beautiful roads with even more beautiful views towards the south of the Black Forest towards Todtmoos and Sankt-Blasien, where a cathedral stands out among all the lush greenery.
Be surprised by all the beauty that the Black Forest has to offer.

At RP6 TT is of the opinion that it is not possible to turn right and that is why you drive 100m and turn. However, that is not necessary, you can and can just turn right.

RouteXpert Review
A route through the Black Forest cannot really be boring. Every street, every road offers you a fantastic driving adventure or a gigantic view. You often do not know what to expect after the beautiful bend you see in front of you. The beautiful, varied environment and beautiful roads make me appreciate this route with 4 stars.

The route starts in Schonach im Schwarzwald, a place fairly central in the Black Forest. The route runs along beautiful winding roads along the Steinwasen summer toboggan run (dare we?), The Schulchsee and the Steinen bird park.

The Steinwasen summer toboggan run is definitely worth a visit. The park has several toboggan runs, it also has the longest suspension bridge in the world. Just stop here to see what kind of violence comes rushing down the mountain. The real dare devil is likely to buy an entrance ticket ...

Vogelpark Steinen is a bird park in the southern Black Forest. It is located in a valley in the municipality of Steinen between the districts of Schlächtenhaus and Weitenau. The site has an area of ten hectares. All kinds of birds live here, such as parrots, peacocks and owls, but also the sea eagle is present. The latter is part of a show, in which it is shown what an impressive bird of prey the sea eagle is. The shows are at 11am and 3pm.

The Schluchsee is a reservoir near St. Blasien in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. It is the largest in the Black Forest. The 63-meter-high dam was constructed from high-density concrete between 1929 and 1932. Walking over the dam gives a beautiful view over the lake. It is also possible to make a 75-minute cruise on the reservoir with the MS Schluchsee. For more information, see the link below.

In St. Blasien, between the pleasant greenery, St. Blasius, the namesake of the village, adorns. This former abbey church has an impressive facade and one of the largest domes in Europe. The beautiful pillars that exude a purity, together with the incomparable painting of this dome, can be called downright impressive.

The remains of the castle of Neu-Fürstenberg can be found near the town of Hammereisenbach. The castle was probably built around 1360 by the Counts of Fürstenberg on an earlier complex from the 12th century, around the connecting road between Baar and Breisgau. Nice to take a look.

Have fun on this tour!
