Day 6 we drive through three beautiful nature parks;
1. Parque natural Saja-Besaya; a natural park in Cantabria, Spain. On the northern slope of the Cantabrian Mountains extend the beech and oak forests of the Saja-Besaya Natural Park; an important natural area full of deer, roe deer and golden eagles. Two important rivers originate in these mountains, Carrión and Pisuerga.
2. Parque natural de Fuentes Carrionas y Fuente Cobre; In the most remote and inaccessible border of the province of Palencia stands a spectacular, and almost unknown, mountain range. The peaks and ridges, modelled on the hard and austere mountain limestone, are over 2,500 metres high and form a unique relief based on fantastic needles, impressive cliffs, rough cantilevers and deep valleys.
3. Parque natural de la Montana de Riano y Mampodre; The Montaña de Riaño y Mampodre Regional Park, recognized as the Picos de Europa Regional Park since October 2019, is a protected natural area located in the northeastern corner of the province of León, autonomous community of Castile and León, Spain.
Besides the beautiful winding roads, you can also enjoy the beautiful panoramas and some beautiful azure blue reservoirs during this route.
A number of passes are indicated with a route point;
Pass; Puerto de El Portillón
Pass: Puerto de Palombera
Pass: Collado de Carmona
Pass: Puerto de las Portillas
Pass: Puerto de San Glorio
There are several opportunities to stop and enjoy the view on these passes, some are marked with a POI. Take your time to enjoy this ride.
