Fancy Dutch skies, dikes and polders? Then the Hoeksche Waard is your playground for today. This TTT ride meanders along water, forts and mills, with that open feeling of space around you. You start and end at the Hoeksche Waard Museum and along the way old villages and historical places beckon. Put your helmet on tight, because there is a lot to discover here.

From Heinenoord you dive straight into history at the Hoeksche Waard Museum. The first few kilometres take you through Oud-Beijerland, along the water and the ring roads, towards rural Goudswaard. There, narrow dikes meander past waving reed collars. Short, short, long. The landscape opens up at Zuid-Beijerland, where the beautiful Landzigt Mill is once again turning and grinding flour. Via Nieuwendijk you skim along the Buitendijk and dive towards Numansdorp. Here Fort Buitensluis awaits: a perfect photo opportunity. The ride winds further along the Schuringsedijk and old polder roads. In Klaaswaal, De Koningshoeve is a lovely place for coffee or lunch. Then follow Westmaas, Strijen and the bustling Strijensas, where dikes dominate the view. A fuel stop at Argos or a bite to eat at Het Plein keeps man and machine in shape.
The last kilometres lead you via Puttershoek, Mijnsheerenland and Reedijk back to Heinenoord. There you end at the museum, where you can possibly take a dive into the culture of the Hoeksche Waard.

This is a ride for those who love history, Dutch skies and winding dike roads. The combination of beautiful views, picturesque villages and interesting stops makes this ride absolutely worth it. • TSP – Tour Start Point; Hoeksche Waard Museum
Museum Hoeksche Waard (Heinenoord) is housed in two monumental locations: Oost-Leeuwenstein farm and 't Hof van Assendelft. It shows the lives of craftsmen, farm workers, doctors, school children, shopkeepers and gentlemen farmers in the Hoeksche Waard. Open Wed - Sun (Wed-Fri 1-5 pm, Sat 10 am - 5 pm, Sun 1-5 pm). Entrance € 7.50 (children 4-12 € 3.50, museum card free).
• TIP – Tour Info Point; Landzigt Mill
Molen Landzigt is a round stone corn mill (ground sailor) from 1857 on the Molendijk in Zuid-Beijerland. Completely restored in 1975, rebuilt after a fire in 1992. Since 2025, the mill has been grinding local wheat again ('Hitserts Volkoren') and has a shop with flour and regional products.
• TFP – Tour Photo Point; Fort Buitensluis
Fort Buitensluis is a monumental, well-preserved fort from the end of the 18th century, built as an earthen defense structure at the harbor entrance of Numansdorp. In the years 1860-63 reinforced with stone. Later part of the Defense Line of the Hollandsch Diep and Volkerak. Now open to the public with open days, guided tours and even camping sites.
• TPP – Tour Break Point; De Koningshoeve
De Koningshoeve in Klaaswaal is located in a renovated farm at Botweg 1b. The restaurant offers lunch, dinner, high tea, drinks and organizes parties and events. Visitors praise the wide menu choice, child-friendly play corner and cozy atmosphere. Open Tue–Sun from 11:00 to approx. 22:00.
• TBP – Tour Fuel Point; Argos and Het Plein
Argos in Strijen is open Mon-Fri 06:00-21:00, Sat 07:00-21:00, Sun 08:00-21:00. There is also a 24-hour payment machine. Across the street is Het Plein, a café-restaurant-snack bar known for its cozy dining and take-away, with daily changing daily menus and a separate room for parties and events.
• TEP – Tour End Point; Museum Hoeksche Waard
Identical to the starting point. Museum Hoeksche Waard is a beautiful conclusion to this route, possibly combined with a visit to the museum collection or a cup of coffee nearby.
