Route Summary
The Trans Canada Highway, also known as TCH or Highway 1, is one of the longest highways in the world, running from Victoria on Vancouver Island in the west to St. John's, Newfoundland in the east.

This is section 4 which runs from Kamloops to Revelstoke.

The Trans-Canada Highway passes through all of the country's southern provinces. The route can be driven in various ways, as there are several alternative routes that also belong to the Trans-Canada Highway. The total distance is around 8,000 km. We won't be driving solely the Trans-Canada Highway, but will be taking as much of the country's back roads as possible, as highway driving alone is too boring, and Canada boasts many beautiful roads through its stunning landscape.

You'll drive through all the provinces and through very diverse and picturesque landscapes, from the Rockies in the west, the Central Prairies to the eastern Maritimes and the northern forest.

The riding season is generally from April to October with longer seasons on the west coast and southern Ontario.

Make sure you have good all-season clothing or bring rain gear. Depending on the province and the season, the weather can change suddenly and you might be surprised by a rain shower, or even a snow or hail shower, so be prepared.

In Canada, the metric system is used, so speeds are indicated in km/h. Helmets are mandatory throughout Canada (DOT approved).

Throughout Canada, you'll see plenty of wildlife. Similar animals vary from province to province, including deer, buffalo, moose, caribou, wolves, cougars, bears, mountain goats, sheep, lynx, coyotes, foxes, raccoons, badgers, various rodents, and a variety of birds.

Even though it is very tempting to stop for a photo, don't do it, it can be very dangerous.

This fourth leg of the Trans Canada Highway is rated 4**** stars, it's a beautiful drive with stunning views and a good number of activities and sights along the way.

RouteXpert Review
Trans Canada Highway – Stage 4: Kamloops to Revelstoke

The sun is slowly rising over the hills of Kamloops as we start the engine. Ahead lies a 220-kilometer drive, a route that follows the South Thompson River—a road that undulates through a landscape of water, mountains, and forests. This promises to be a day to savor.

Our first stop is a place where nature and care converge: the British Columbia Wildlife Park. Here, on 43 hectares, more than 200 animals and 65 native species live. The park isn't just a zoo; it's a sanctuary where more than 60% of the animals have been rescued. We'll watch birds of prey in action, listen to feeding talks, and take a ride on the Wildlife Express train. And then there's that one special resident: the only Kermode bear in human care in the world. An encounter you won't forget.

Back on the road, another experience beckons: Monte Creek Ranch Winery. For $10 per person, we get a tour of the winery and a tasting—but be sure to spit it out, because the road is calling. The aroma of oak barrels and the view over the vineyards make this a short but memorable stop.

A little further on, at Chase Creek Falls, we park for a short walk. The path leads to a waterfall that plunges 10 meters into a narrow gorge. The water bubbles into a pool surrounded by rocks and greenery. A hidden gem along the highway.

In Chase, we'll stop for a drink before leaving the TCH at Sorrento for a winding road past Blind Bay. Here lies the Dreamcycle Motorcycle Museum, a paradise for motorcyclists. Among motorcycles dating from 1924 to 2002, each machine tells its own story. We'll have lunch at Sprokkets Café, famous for its spot in the Top 10 Café Racer Haunts worldwide. Fresh soup, homemade cakes – fuel for body and soul.

The road winds along the glistening Shuswap Lake, with views that make you stop repeatedly. We pass through towns like Salmon Arm, Canoe, and Sicamous before the road straightens out briefly. But even here, along the Eagle River, the mountains keep us company.
Along the route, adrenaline junkies should definitely visit the Skytrek Adventure Park and Enchanted Forest. Climb, jump, and zipline—up to 15 meters high between the trees. For the brave, this is a challenge that will get your heart racing.

The last 30 kilometers lead through valleys and past lakes. We stop for a photo of the enchanting Three Valley Lake, a mirror of blue and green. Then, via the historic Suspension Bridge, we roll into Revelstoke. The day ends with mountains reddened by the evening sun.

This fourth stage was a feast of contrasts: nature, culture, adventure, and relaxation. A ride I rightly give four stars. Tomorrow awaits the next chapter, and if it's as beautiful as today, I can't wait.
