Route Summary
Nice tour through the Austrian and Italian mountain world. I drove this route in June 2019. Start and end point is at Presseggersee. The route goes mainly on the Italian side over the small and unknown roads. The route is of course the same for Garmin, TomTom and the MRA Navigation app.

RouteXpert Review
This beautiful tour starts in Austria at the Presseggersee. We have driven this route from Seecamping Schluga. This is an ideal place to make many beautiful trips through Austria, Italy and Slovenia. Motorcyclists are therefore very welcome here! In this route we come across 2 passes that cross the border with Italy. On the way there the Nassfeldpass and on the way back the Plöckenpass. Between these 2 passes we drive the Passo del Cason di Lanza in Italy. An unknown pass but probably one of the most impressive I have ever driven!
So we start at the Presseggersee and drive towards the town of Tröpolach where the Nassfeldpass starts. With a height of 1,530M, the Nassfeldpass is not the highest but certainly worth the drive. The Austrian side is great to drive. Smooth curves always follow each other with some hairpins in between for a change. The Italian side is just another story. The asphalt is a bit worse and the road becomes narrower. Also the road is not exactly clean in some places. Especially in the tight hairpin bends this can cause some tension.
After the Nassfeldpass we immediately start on the Passo del Cason di Lanza. This 1,552M high pass surprises you again after every turn. For the sporty rider, I advise against this pass because nice driving is really not possible. Many tight hairpin bends, bad to very bad asphalt and the many unclear points ensure that you have to drive at your leisure. And that is absolutely not a punishment! The most beautiful views, waterfalls and hidden cows among the trees. Occasionally you will encounter a local resident or lost motorcyclist but for the rest no traffic.
After this impressive pass we wind through the Italian mountain landscape towards the Plöckenpass.
The 1,357M high Plöckenpass is another great pass to drive. Good asphalt and the road is fairly wide so that you can drive on. Many beautiful hairpin bends and tunnels with open sides make this a very special pass. The border crossing to Austria lights on top of the pass where you will also find a war museum.
Not a very long route, but due to the many small roads, you can spend some hours with it.
