Route Summary
The Trans Canada Highway, also known as TCH or Highway 1, is one of the longest highways in the world, running from Victoria on Vancouver Island in the west to St. John's in Newfoundland in the east.

This is part 23 that runs from Quebec to Riviere du Loup.

The Trans Canada Highway passes through all the southern provinces of the country. The route can be driven in different ways. There are namely in various alternative routes that also belong to the TCH. The total distance is around 8,000 km. We not only drive the TCH, but will take the rural roads as much as possible, because only highway driving is too boring and Canada has many beautiful roads through its beautiful landscape.

You drive through all provinces and through very varied and scenic landscapes, from the Rockies in the West, the Central Prairies to the Eastern Maritimes and the Northern Forest.

The riding season is generally April through October with longer seasons on the west coast and southern Ontario.

Provide good all season clothing or bring rain gear, depending on the province and the season the weather can change and you may be surprised by a rain or even a snow or hail shower, so be prepared.

In Canada the metric system is used, so speeds are indicated in Km / h. A helmet requirement (DOT approved) applies throughout Canada.

You will see many wildlife throughout Canada. your similar animals from province to province, such as deer, buffalos, moose, caribou, wolves, pumas, bears, mountain goats, sheep, lynx, coyotes, foxes, raccoons, badgers, various rodents and all kinds of birds.
Even if it is very tempting to stop for a photo, don't do it, it can be very dangerous.

RouteXpert Review
Day 23 we drive from Quebec to Rivière du Loup. There are again several routes to drive, the route via the Trans Canada Highway through the picturesque rural landscape is not bad, but completely highway and still boring with the motorbike.

We want to drive country roads so we take the QC-132 from Beaumont along the ever-widening Saint Lawrence River to the east, this road winds through small towns, past 400-year-old stone farmhouses and with beautiful views en route, so much more enjoyment. If you want to get to the final destination quickly, you can continue straight from Beaumont (RP6) on the Trans Canada Highway QC-20.

We leave Quebec along the Boulevard de Champlain and the beautiful Pont de Quebec (RP3). The first 35 kilometers we drive on the Trans Canada Highway, at Beaumont (RP6) we leave the TCH and take the beautiful Route QC-132.

The first short stop to take a picture is at the church of Saint Roch des Aulnaies (RP8), construction of which started on June 24, 1717. The chapel burned down and / or was partially destroyed at the time of its conquest in 1759. Construction A new church was completed in 1853. It was blessed on October 28, 1852. The building is rectangular with a protruding choir and a semicircular apse. The wooden safe has the shape of a semicircular arch. Exterior walls are covered with stone.

About 3 kilometers further we stop at RP9 for a guided tour (45-60Min) through the La Seigneurie des Aulnaies, a Victorian style Manor. A costumed guide will take you back in time and tell the history of the house and its inhabitants. Outside there are several walking paths where you can admire the gardens, trees and shrubs of the Seigneurie. There is a beautiful terrace cafe with great views of the small waterfall and river. There is also a shop where you can buy locally produced products. The estate is open from mid-May to mid-October and entrance costs $ 12.50 (including taxes).

In La Pocatière (RP10) we stop for lunch, there are a number of restaurants along the route, but you can also choose to leave the route and visit a restaurant in the picturesque village center.

At RP 13 is Kamouraska Beach, a small beach with a pier to stop for a walk and to take some pictures. A fresh dip in the river is of course also possible.

We continue along the Saint Lawrence river and on this stretch you also have some beautiful views with the river on the left and green and mountains on the right. At RP17 we stop briefly to take pictures in the Rivière Fouquette National Park. Here you have a beautiful view of the river and fields with heather and flowers.

From here, it is just a 10-minute drive to the hotel in Rivière du Loup. This is a beautiful route that I appreciate with 4 **** stars, the roads are good, beautiful nature and a few nice stops.
