RouteXpert Review The starting point of the event was at the Premier Inn at the end of the M50 motorway just outside Ross on Wye, I have chosen to start this route from a McDonald's on the edge of Worcester as I believe that it would be an easier starting point for anyone coming from Birmingham, Coventry or Wolverhampton. But there is a link for the hotel below.
Be aware, to enable you to see some of the best sights, this route uses some very small roads. They are all bitumen surfaced, but some may (will) have grass in the middle or a little gravel but bear in mind this was run for vintage motorcycles. It is challenging in places but very rewarding too, passing castles, tiny bridges and ancient buildings.
On a clear day, a stopping for a view from Yat Rock is a great way to see the surrounding area. There are several nice pubs along the route but for lunch, I highly recommend The Granary at Hay on Wye where I have placed a red marker. After lunch, the route takes you over the ancient Whitney Toll Bridge £1 for all vehicles, read some history of the bridge in the link below, and information regarding the V.M.C.C. and the annual Herefordshire on the Edge event can be found in links too.

As the title suggests, this is a 5 day tour through Wales on 'roads less travelled'. Each daily route has spectacular scenery through sometimes, dramatic landscapes. The tour visits some of Wales' well known sights and some not so well known. It travels across open moorland, deep valleys, the mountains of Snowdonia National Park and the beautiful countryside and coast. You will travel over historic bridges and see historic buildings and sights. This truly is an adventurous tour that I am certain you will enjoy.
