Highway 12 Red Canyon
Route 10/15 of a three-week round trip through the west of America, from Hatch, via Bryce NP to Page.
Departure from the hotel via HWY 89 in a northerly direction. Via the exit Escalante / Bryce Canyon National Park we reach SR 12. At route point 2 we pass the picturesque Red Canyon. Just past Bryce Canyon Airport we turn right towards the truly beautiful Bryce Canyon. Personally we find Bryce Canyon more beautiful than the well-known Grand Canyon.
Along the dead end road into the park you will pass various viewpoints. I call Sunset point RP 4, Bryce Point RP 5, Natural Arch RP 7, Natural Bridge RP 8 and Rainbow Point RP 9. At most viewpoints you can also find beautiful, sometimes spicy, walking routes through which you can go all the way to the Canyon. can go down.
After Rainbow Point (end of SR 63) we will have to follow the road all the way back to our starting point today.
We now drive Hatch to the south. Via HWY 89 we drive to Kanab and finally our final destination Page.
At RP 13 we pass the Glen Canyon Dam. Just before the bridge you can possibly left a parking space for views over the dam and Lake Powell.
