Scotland Travel 9 Days Singletrack Roads
Day 1: Driving to the boat in IJmuiden.
Of course it is different for everyone from where you leave, and this ride is really only for introduction and illustration. The boat departs from IJmuiden, where you have to plan your way. The unloading and reloading takes a while, but make sure you are there by about 14.30 at the latest.
As a motorcyclist, it is wise to be present a little on time, so you have time to drive inside as soon as the stewards give you a hint. Usually you drive with a large group of other engines, which you can follow (pay attention when the steel plates are smooth) and then you can park your car in the hold, lash and take your overnight-bag to your cabin. Do not worry about tightening, there is enough space and there are sturdy straps. Motor on the sidestand, strap over the saddle and just chatted, ready. However, it is advisable to have an old towel (also useful in case of breakdown, for example) at hand, then you can put it over your saddle and the lashing strap will not damage your saddle.
Once your bike is standing, and you have your bag with your toothbrush in your cabin, you can start exploring the ship. Do not go with your whole trade, just take the most urgent thing for it is a very lamentation and tomorrow morning you are crammed in a bloodstorm waiting for the car deck to open again.
There is plenty to do on board, to eat and drink, but it is all quite pricey and the food is not incredibly great, in my humble opinion. On the way to the boat good lunch and take some bread for the evening and your breakfast can be a good alternative, the more money you keep for a beer on board ;-)
