Route Summary
Ever since the early 90s of the last century, Promotor has been setting out the so-called Tank Bag Tours. You understand that the name still comes from the GPS-free era, when motorcyclists still searched their way on inland roads with a roadbook in the tank bag or router roll. The 173 ANWB Promoter TankTasTocht (TTT) were scanned by Henry ten Dam and signed by Leon Stolk in Mapsource and later placed as a Track in a .gpx file. These are made available through the MrGPS website with the approval of the ANWB Promoter so that everyone can enjoy them. The 1st TTT is from 1992, so the route may differ slightly from the original.
I have checked all route points and, where necessary, placed them neatly on the road. Also, if necessary, I have further spaced the start point and end point of the route to avoid navigating directly to the end point and I added the POI files from the start and end point just like a possible stopping point.
Finally, I made the route the same for TomTom, Garmin and MyRoute-app Navigation users.
Thanks to Henry, Leon, MrGPS and Promoter.

RouteXpert Review
This TTT starts in Purmerend, at Brasserie de Drie Zwanen, within walking distance is the most beautiful bridge of Purmerend, namely the Melkwegbrug. The route goes through mostly beautiful roads through various smaller pictures through the province of Noord-Holland and ends in Bakkum in the Noordhollands Duinreservaat. The first hour of the route you drive almost the entire time along the water, starting with the Noordhollandsch Kanaal and then the Beemstervaart. Then you go via Opmeer to Kolhorn, where the lunch stop is planned. After lunch we drive on and after about 20 kilometers, past canals, ditches and meadows, you arrive at Nuwendoorn Castle (also Nieuwendoorn), this was a forced fortress of Floris V near the Rekerdam with a spur van de Rekere, in the far west of West Friesland, near the current Krabbendam (Municipality of Schagen). It consisted of a residential tower of 11 by 11 meters, a main castle of 32 by 32 meters, and a front castle.
Construction started around 1282. After the murder of Floris V in 1296, the castle under construction was destroyed by the West Frisians, after which it was rebuilt. Jan I van Polanen was appointed lord of the castle on August 5, 1321. From 1367 a bill for maintenance of the castle is known. After that the castle is no longer mentioned; it may have disappeared around 1370 in the event of a flood. The monastery jokes from which the castle was built may have been reused for the church (the old Ursula) in Warmenhuizen. The name of the area (Nyewendoren) has been corrupted over the centuries to "New Doors". Although it was known that an old fortress had to be located here, and it was reported in a newspaper article from 1883 that monastery jokes were found there, the castle was only rediscovered in 1948. Bram Biersteker regularly found monastery jokes during plowing and showed two of them to amateur archaeologists Cees Wagenaar, Johan Lutjeharms and Jaap Westra who subsequently dug out a foundation of approximately 36 meters.
After a land consolidation in 1960, the National Service for Archaeological Soil Research carried out further research. The Nuwendoorn Foundation was established in 1961. The foundations and canals were restored between 1961 and 1967. The foundation was dissolved in 1980. The area has been owned by the province of Noord-Holland since 1983. It is managed by Landschap Noord-Holland. In June 2006, the Provincial Executive of Noord-Holland decided to reserve a maximum of 500,000 euros for refurbishing the site to prevent further decline. The castle grounds were opened by Deputy Elvira Sweet on 7 July 2011. The castle walls have been partially rebuilt with modern material and the main tower has been erected in steel as a lookout tower. So it's time for a stop to visit the castle and to take some pictures from the lookout tower.
We drive on and again pass the Noordhollandsch Kanaal, this is a canal in the province of Noord-Holland and runs from Amsterdam-Noord, via Purmerend and Alkmaar to Den Helder. The Noordhollandsch Kanaal was dug in the beginning of the 19th century by order of King Willem I. We are now just under 30 KM from the end point and the 1st dunes are already emerging, we are close to the coast. Via Bergen and Egmond aan den Hoef we drive to the end point in Bakkum, where we close this TTT with a delicious cup of coffee.
Because I have not (yet) driven this route myself, this route gets 3 stars.
