RouteXpert Review
This tour takes us to the east of the Algarve close to the border with Spain. There are a number of roads in it that have already been described in one of the earlier routes.

The route starts and ends in Armação de Pêra, a pretty little town about 50 km from Faro. The fishing village of origin has become a tourist attraction because of its beautiful beaches. This is a nice base for journeys in the Algarve. You can drive the ride to Portugal yourself or have your motorcycle transported, you don't have a motorbike, no problem nearby are two things that rent motorbikes and quads. Links are in the review.

We leave from the campsite and drive quietly out of the town towards Loulé (RP6), the first city where we also stop to stretch our legs and enjoy a typical Portuguese town.

The next town is São Brás de Alportel (RP7) where you can also stop for a walk. São Brás de Alportel is a calm and peaceful town with a hospitable population. Between the streets with white houses, the silhouette of the church's bell tower towers. The town is surrounded on all sides by different hills. The low and white houses have popular architectural features and there are also buildings adorned with tile panels, natural stone and iron verandas, which show the prosperity of the cork industrialists of yesteryear. A walk through the streets and squares is a walk through the development of São Brás de Alportel, which has distinctive character traits due to small details such as the baroque decoration of Passo da Paixão, near the Episcopal Palace and the flowers in the windows. for the Algarve.

RP8 is a small waterfall and a lake "Pego do Inferno", and certainly worth a short detour from the route and view, a fresh dive is also possible. It is one of three waterfalls formed by the Asseca stream.

The next 130 kilometers sailed on winding roads through the rugged landscape of the Algarve. Full enjoyment for every motorcyclist because of the beautiful curves, ascents and descents. Along the way you see several beautiful vistas and there are places where you can stop to take a photo.

We drive around the Beliche reservoir and at RP11 we drive over the dam and we are also fairly close to the Spanish border. Via the beautiful Portuguese villages of Alta Mora, Cachopo, Ameixial we drive to the small nature park Fonte de Benemola (RP16), in this park there is a natural spring that continues to flow even in the hottest and driest weather in the Algarve, and this beautiful place still has lush vegetation along the river banks when the rest of the landscape is brown and dry. A gentle walk, which gives time to take pictures, takes about an hour and a half.

The next nature park Rocha de Pena (RP17) is only 5 kilometers from Fonte de Benemola, here you can also take beautiful walks. At the top you have a beautiful view.

Lunch is planned in São Bartolomeu de Messines (RP18), there are several cafés in these towns and there is also a small museum “Museu do Traje e das Tradições” on the outskirts of the town. This Museum of Costume and Traditions is in a typical house in the Algarve countryside that has been specially restored for this purpose.

In the last part of this ride we will drive along the Arado reservoir (RP21), where it is definitely worth stopping for a short walk and taking some pictures.

I appreciate this ride with 4 **** Stars because of the beautiful roads, nice villages and towns and the beautiful nature parks.
