RouteXpert Review
Tour of South England, Day 2 of 9

Goodmorning, today we are en route to Salisbury, on a route that is approximately 215 km long, with an estimated driving time of approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes.
The route is as much as possible on single roads, no highway or dual-carriage way today, and here and there you already come across a singletrack road, between the typical English hedges on both sides of the road.

Along the way we come across a number of historical sites that are definitely worth parking the motorbike and visiting them.

We drive through Lewes, an old town in style. There are several photo moments along the way, not all of them indicated on the map, but you will notice them by themselves. At RP6 you can take a look at Lewes Castle and Barbican House, in the middle of the town.

At RP10 you look left to the beautiful hills of Devil's Dyke, a National Trust Parc where it is also great walking, but we don't have time for that today. Of course for a photo opportunity.

On RP13 you arrive at Arundel Castle. You can take the time to let the more than 1000 years of rich history work on you.
There is also a beautiful museum and heritage center that is well worth a visit.

After Arundel we drive further northwest and then pass a Roman villa, Bignor. RP15 reminds you and at RP17 you see a water pump, which justifies a photo.

Today we come across an old building, from 1520. A Tudor house, Cowdray, now a ruin. Wonderful to walk by and imagine how the 16th and 17th century nobility had a court here. RP20 asks to step down and imagine the grandeur.

RP22 is another pump house in a beautiful building, Twyford, that you can even visit. If you are interested in Victorian technique, then you should definitely check it out.

We continue on narrow roads to Salisbury, passing one of the many WW1 Memorials at RP24, but it is beautiful and right on the road.

Find a nice hotel in Salisbury and relax in this cozy town until tomorrow!
