Middenveldroute – A motorcycle ride through the heart of Drenthe
This Middenveldroute takes you through the varied landscape of Drenthe. From forests and heathlands to historic canals and impressive monuments: this ride offers a perfect mix of nature, history and driving pleasure. The route winds over beautiful roads and takes you past impressive places such as the Dwingelderveld, the forest rangers of Drenthe, the Herinneringscentrum Kamp Westerbork and the Oranjekanaal. Time to start the engine and explore the Drenthe landscape! Hence the award of 3 stars.

RouteXpert Review Then you pass Boswachterij Gees, a beautiful nature reserve with heathland, fens and dense forests. The route remains varied and takes you via quiet roads to the charming village of Gees, where you can take a break at Talenti, a traditional ice cream parlour and lunch spot in a characteristic farmhouse. After this stop you continue your ride along Boswachterij Schoonloo, an area with beautiful forest paths and varied landscape. Here you will also find Boswachterij Grolloo, where the C+B Museum is located. This museum is dedicated to the Dutch blues legend Cuby + Blizzards and is a must for music lovers. One of the most impressive stops along the way is the Herinneringscentrum Kamp Westerbork. This museum and former camp site are reminders of a profound piece of history. A visit is definitely worth it if you want to take a moment to reflect on the past during your ride.
The route takes you further along Boswachterij Hooghalen, a beautiful piece of nature with quiet roads and beautiful vistas. At Gasstation Schreur Avia you can possibly fill up the tank before you drive the last kilometers of the route.
Via small village roads you drive back to Hijken, the Tour End Point of this route. Here you can enjoy the ride with a nice dinner or a refreshing drink.
The Middenveldroute is a beautiful motorcycle ride for lovers of nature, history and beautiful steering roads. The route is suitable for both beginners and experienced riders and offers a wonderful mix of relaxation and adventure. Drenthe (Dutch: [ˈdrɛntə] (listen); German: Drenthe) is a province of the Netherlands located in the northeastern part of the country. It is bordered by Overijssel to the south, Friesland to the west, Groningen to the north, and the German state of Lower Saxony to the east.
