Route Summary
The fifth and final stage on the way to Camping Moto Dordogne is about to begin. You eventually reach the campsite via the Cévennes nature park and a number of rivers. Hans probably has a beer ready for you.

Rivers are bends and bends are ultimate driving fun, that's why this route gets 5 stars from me.

RouteXpert Review
The fifth and final stage awaits you. Away from the high mountains, a fantastic (have I used that word before?) awaits you along the Tarn, Lot and more rivers. We'll take you by the hand through the Cévennes Natural Park and you'll be just in time for your welcome beer at Hans' Camping Moto Dordogne.

But before you get there, you still have to drive there. It is clear that something beautiful awaits you. From your hotel you drive in a westerly direction: where the sun goes down. This route is characterized by many, many bends on roads that are not too wide. In general, the asphalt here is good, but there is quite a stray piece of untreated road surface, so pay attention to that. There are some small passes here, but especially the view is breathtakingly beautiful in many places, especially when you pass the 1700 meter high Mont Lozere. It is not for nothing that the Cévennes Natural Park is on the World Heritage List, so enjoy it!
After a lot of swinging you reach your first stop and this is quite a memorable stop for your writer/guide. I ignored the navigation device in this area in 2 different years and both times I ended up at this bar. Anyway, the coffee tastes great! After coffee it gets even more fun. You will soon arrive in the Gorges du Tarn. A gorge carved out by the river, with high steep rock walls. You follow this beautiful natural force for about 25 km, where you can find enough places to fill up all your SD cards with photos. Instead of following the gorge and the river, you look higher up. There is also a road almost at the highest points of the river. Moreover, we do not continue to follow the Tarn, which is an idea to do at another time, you go to another river. You make your way through the rolling countryside on quiet roads. You can have your lunch in restaurant du Commerce. The steak avec frites is recommended.

After lunch you have to tackle the next river. You follow the stream valley of the Lot for about 30-35 km, which in turn guarantees many bends. Please note that this road is very narrow. So watch out for French motorists. The big advantage is that it is very low traffic.
This is followed by a stretch, alternating with somewhat larger roads, in order to be able to make progress, until the Lot overtakes you again via a large detour. You keep to the Lot for a while and the next river (Le Célé) is already waiting for you. This time no small turns, but nice turns, so that you eat your kilometers in cadence. After refueling and the opportunity to have a drink in a picturesque restaurant, you are not far from your final destination. Just look at the picture with the sheep and I'm sure you'll think: that shoarma enne, that woolen sweater… would they…? Oh no…
You can quickly fill up your motorcycle at the local Total just before the campsite. If you want to do some shopping for your stay at the campsite, you will find Lidl and the large Carrefour supermarket opposite the gas station.
It is only 22 kilometers to the campsite. If you send Hans an App, you even have a chance that your cold beer is waiting for you.

Once on the terrace of the campsite you think: admittedly, it was a long drive, but incredibly beautiful. That is what the MRA has done well. CHEERS!

About this region
Occitanie (French pronunciation: [ɔksitani] (listen); Occitan: Occitània [utsiˈtanjɔ]; Catalan: Occitània [uksiˈtaniə]), Occitany or Occitania (), is the southernmost administrative region of metropolitan France excluding Corsica, created on 1 January 2016 from the former regions of Languedoc-Roussillon and Midi-Pyrénées. The Council of State approved Occitanie as the new name of the region on 28 September 2016, coming into effect on 30 September 2016.The modern administrative region is named after the larger cultural and historical region of Occitania, which corresponds with the southern third of France. The region Occitanie as it is today covers a territory similar to that ruled by the Counts of Toulouse in the 12th and 13th centuries. The banner of arms of the Counts of Toulouse, known colloquially as the Occitan cross, is used by the modern region and is also a popular cultural symbol. In 2015, Occitanie had a population of 5,839,867.

25 Magnificent trails in France
This MRA route collection contains 25 beautiful motorcycle routes in different parts of France, such as the Ardennes, the Alsace, Vercors, the Drôme, the Ardèche, Cote d'Azure, Gorges du Verdon, the Ariège, the Dordogne and Brittany.

The routes have been carefully created by Bert Loorbach, who is an enthusiastic motorcyclist himself. He lived in France for a year and a half, during which time he devoted himself to mapping the unknown and beautiful back roads of France especially for motorcyclists.

The routes are bundled in the Motortourgids France part 1 of Kosmos publishing house and now also available in MyRouteApp.

I have taken over the routes in MRA and sometimes adjusted them slightly to make them even more interesting for the motorcyclist.

24 Magnificent trails in France
It is clear that France is one of the most beautiful and best touring countries. It offers an incredibly varied landscape with good roads and a pleasant climate. It is not for nothing that you see so many motorcyclists there. My previous collection of 25 routes in France (25 Magnificent routes in France) were based on the route descriptions from the Motortourgids France part 1 made by Bert Loorbach.

This collection of 24 routes comes from Motortourgids France part 2. In this collection, a difference has been made between approach routes and motorcycle tours in a certain area. The approach routes can also be used in combination with the routes from Motortourgids France part 1

The routes are sometimes slightly adjusted based on the tips that Bert Loorbach gives in his description, or because of another place to spend the night, or to reach the minimum length of 2 hours for the MRA Library. For each route, the review contains a more detailed description, including options to stay overnight or places of interest along the way, which are also indicated with a POI and if possible with a short description.

Two or more routes have been created for a number of areas, such as for Burgundy, Auvergne, The Alps, Tarn and Cévennes and Nord-Pas de Calais. These routes can be nicely combined in a multi-day trip.
