Route Summary
The Trans Canada Highway, also known as TCH or Highway 1, is one of the longest highways in the world, running from Victoria on Vancouver Island in the west to St. John's in Newfoundland in the east.

This is part 11 that runs from Brandon to Winnepeg.

The Trans Canada Highway passes through all the southern provinces of the country. The route can be driven in different ways. There are namely in various alternative routes that also belong to the TCH. The total distance is around 8,000 km. We not only drive the TCH, but will take the rural roads as much as possible, because only highway driving is too boring and Canada has many beautiful roads through its beautiful landscape.

You drive through all provinces and through very varied and scenic landscapes, from the Rockies in the West, the Central Prairies to the Eastern Maritimes and the Northern Forest.

The riding season is generally April through October with longer seasons on the west coast and southern Ontario.

Provide good all season clothing or bring rain gear, depending on the province and the season the weather can change and you may be surprised by a rain or even a snow or hail shower, so be prepared.

In Canada the metric system is used, so speeds are indicated in Km / h. A helmet requirement (DOT approved) applies throughout Canada.

You will see many wildlife throughout Canada. your similar animals from province to province, such as deer, buffalos, moose, caribou, wolves, pumas, bears, mountain goats, sheep, lynx, coyotes, foxes, raccoons, badgers, various rodents and all kinds of birds.
Even if it is very tempting to stop for a photo, don't do it, it can be very dangerous.

RouteXpert Review
Today we drive from Brandon to Winnipeg through Manitoba, also known as the land of the 100,000 lakes. In this part we will not see many of these lakes yet, that will come in the following stages.

We drive most of the route on the Trans Canada Highway, but will also occasionally deviate and take a provincial or country road (sometimes unpaved). The panoramas are wide and you mainly see green agricultural areas with a large ranch here and there and you pass a number of small villages and towns.

A visit is planned at the Manitoba Agricultural Museum and Campground (RP7). The Manitoba Agricultural Museum is dedicated to the collection of vintage agricultural machinery and buildings from 1900 and earlier. Located on 200 acres (50 acres) near Austin. They have collected over 500 machines and a pioneer village consisting of over 20 buildings complete with artifacts. This is Canada's largest collection of vintage equipment. Facilities include a camping and picnic area and a souvenir shop.
Throughout the year, the museum offers several tours, schools, and hands-on experiences that culminate with the annual Manitoba Threshermen's Reunion and Stampede and several other exhibits. The annual Threshermen's Reunion and Stampede is held at the end of July.

Lunch is scheduled at Portage La Prairie (RP8), a small town on Crescent Lake with a number of restaurants and snack bars.

After lunch we leave TCH for what it is and we take the Provincial Trunk Highway 26, which partly runs along the river Assinniboine. This road is nicer to drive and meanders through the countryside to Winnipeg.
In Winnipeg you can visit several Museums and there are galleries, cafes, hip bars and restaurants, more information about what to do can be found in one of the links in this review.

I appreciate this route with 3 *** Stars because of the beautiful landscape (but flat). The ride itself is fairly straightforward and there are a number of options for driving via a different route (sometimes dirt roads).
